St Cuthbert’s Church Mission Statement To worship God and to share His/Her light with this community

A Christmas Message

Sat watching David Attenborough’s Planet Earth

the other night, I was disturbed by a commotion in

the dining room of the Vicarage. Alec, my dog,

barking to go out. I went to look and put the light

on for the back garden to discover two small hedge-

hogs scuttling about their business outside, young

ones, seeking what they would need to survive. I

sat with Alec watching in wonder at these beautiful

creatures, new life, emerging in the darkness. This Christmas we will

celebrate afresh a new life in our midst (Jesus), come into the

darkness of His time (life under Herod), reaching out to us with the

arms of a child in unconditional love. And so, with Jesus, I invite you

to come and see, to sit in wonder and contemplate the glory of God,

which is so often found in unexpected ways, in unexpected places.

May you and all who you love glimpse that peace this Christmas.

Yours in faith and love, Alastair

vouchers for people in urgent need.
