You can go to the PTO link on the school website to find details, but please plan on attending and having a GREAT time! It is focused around food, games and good times. A special thank you to all those in-volved in organizing it. It is a big undertaking and any help you can give is very much appreciated.

Last but not least, we rec-ognized our lead custodian Chris. There were several comments on the climate survey that caused us to make sure and take a few moments to recognize a very special person to all of us. Chris has been our lead custodian for several years and takes great pride in how the building looks. We very much appreciate all he does and the positive attitude he approaches each day with. Many of you see him at car drop off
in the mornings. Please take a moment to tell him you heard that we recog-nized him at the assembly. He is a quality person! We also recognized all of the students who received the “Warrior of the Week” award from their teachers in January and February. Keep an eye out on our Fa-cebook page to see our Warriors of the Week!

April Platzer, Librarian
From the Library
We had a lot of fun creating, exploring and problem-solving in our makerspace
stations in library! A few times a year, students are encouraged to explore new
tools while using critical thinking, problem-solving and cooperative learning skills.
Some of our stations are high tech while some are no tech. Thank you to the
Wheatland PTO for donating some of the items to the library. A few of the stations
this last week included coding with the Dash robots, exploring electronic circuits
with our snap-circuit sets, creating different items from duct tape, and construct-
ing with Legos and our new Zoob Builderz. These items are also available for
check-out by classroom teachers as well.

Classroom Guidance
Students and parents,
Last week WES started state assessments. 5th grade was up first with
science. The testing sessions went nice and smooth. 4th grade will
test next in English language arts and math. A reminder to make
sure your child gets plenty of sleep before the test and eats a good
breakfast the morning of. Good luck to all those testing, and a

Every year during state assessments, the elementary counselors of
Andover pause guidance classes to ensure we are giving state assessments
their due diligence. When state assessments are over, classes will resume. We
will pick back up talking about careers. It is very important
that students are exposed to different kinds of careers because of the
varying interests children have. I look forward to spending time helping
the students at WES explore careers and learn about how to turn their passion
into a job.
