Milk is a nutritious drink for kids and teens and a great source of calcium, which is important for growing strong bones and teeth. ACTIVITIES 1. Indian Dance : The children were exposed to Indian culture through classical dance. 2. Taekwondo : A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Students learnt taekwando for overall development of the body and self defence. 3. Library : Stories were read out. Children were taught to read simple words & sentences from story books like Aesop fables, My big book of fairy tales and I like to read. COMPUTERS Students enjoyed working on the computers wherein they applied their knowledge to solve picture puzzles, mazes etc. The concept of addition and subtraction was reinforced by colouring pictures, solving puzzles etc.

    COMPUTERS Students enjoyed working on the computers wherein they applied their knowledge to solve picture puzzles, mazes etc. The concept of addition and subtraction was reinforced by colouring pictures, solving puzzles etc.

  • To help the flora and fauna come alive and to protect our biological diversity, The Monark Butterfly, The Wollemi Pine, The Butterfly Jasmine and the Gazelle were introduced to the students in the form of colourful presentations, interactive discussions that encompassed the different features and important characteristics of the different topics.

    Different aspects of countries like Brazil, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand were explained to the students through vivid presentations. Geographical and cultural aspects of these countries was discussed in detail. Famous music personalities like Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amzad Ali Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain and Shiv Kumar Sharma added music to our children’s ears. Worksheets were attemped by the children as they were familiarised with the different facets of the lives of these great maestros and their rich contribution to our culture. Sports Legends like Tiger Woods, Nadia Comaneci, Michael Schumacher and SachinTendulkar were introduced. Their achievements were highlighted and explained to the students.

    Mathematical Skills: The children enjoyed doing Addition and Subtraction using Addition and Subtraction boards. Language Skills: Vocabulary building with sound words were undertaken & reinforced with corresponding worksheets. Meaning and sentence construction was also done. Children matched detached picture cards with name cards. Concepts : The topic ‘Continents’ was taken up. Children were shown different continents on the globe. They were told that each continent is assigned a different colour. Information about each continent was imparted.

    Q: Why did the computer go to the doctor?

    A: Because it had a virus!

    1. Sounds „th‟ ( ), „th‟ ( ),‟tw‟, „wh‟, „ch‟, „sh‟, „gh‟, „ph‟, „pt‟, „ee‟, long and short „oo‟, „ea‟, „mb‟, „ss‟, „ll‟ , „ff‟, „tch‟, „dge‟, „ar‟, „ck‟, magic e, soft c and g, hard c and g were introduced. The children were encouraged to suggest more words. Flash cards were used to teach the concepts and build children‟s vocabulary.

    2. The Lessons “Why did Gopal Fall?”, “A House for Hippo”, “To the Farm, “Minoo & Pussy”, “Jimmy Crow”and “Teenu Saves the Lion” were introduced. A. Vocabulary building – The teacher helped children to underline new

    words and visualize them through flash cards and pictures. To be thorough, they wrote them down in their exercise books.

    B. Reading Skills – Individual and group reading of lessons was done to

    improve the children‟s reading skills. Reading simple sentences from the white-board was a regular activity.

    C. The concepts of „a /an‟, „This/That‟ and „This / These‟ were introduced to

    the children. Eg. a hen an aeroplane This is a table That is a jug This is a pencil These are flowers

    D. Children were encouraged to form meaningful sentences with simple words such as garden, friend etc.

    E. Picture Composition and comprehension of unseen passages were

    F. Describing words : Words that tell us something about naming words are called describing words.

    eg.: pretty girl white tiger G. Opposites – Children were familiarized with the use of opposite words. eg. Tall Short RHYMES : “My Toys” , “Miss Polly”, “To let” and “ I can” were taught.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE Experiments on

    Magnetism – Introduction (paper clips, toys) things which get attract to the magnet. Heat – Balloon in a candle flame. Gravity – Throwing ball in the air. Density – Floating / Sinking. Light – Naming objects which reflect light (candle,torch). Plants – Plant growth and development. Human Body – Body parts and Magic organs.

    The topic “Seasons” was introduced through various effective teaching aids. Children learnt about the four major seasons : Summer, Winter, Autumn , Spring. Monsoon season was also discussed as a part of the Indian Summer.

    1. Children discussed about the fruits and vegetables we eat. 2. They learnt about the clothes we wear during each season. 3. Children were informed about rotation and revolution of the earth. 4. The festivals and occasions that occurred during each season were

    also discussed.

    The topic “Earth” was introduced to the children through flash cards and experiments. They were taught about the various aspects of the earth.

    Even when a snake has its eyes closed, it can still see through its eyelids.

    1. Number names from 16 to 100 were revised and written. 2. Addition : The concept of addition was introduced through simple
