Girish KarnadNoted Actor, Filmmaker and Playwright

Girish Karnad was an Indian actor, film director,

Kannada writer, playwright and a Rhodes Scholar,

who predominantly worked in South Indian cinema and Bollywood. Jnanpith Award winner and recipient of the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, GirishKarnad was one of the most noted playwrights in India.

He also joined the Quit India Movement and was held on August

19, 1942. He spent nearly five years in jail before he was released

Rama Sengupta Paul (66), the Veteran lady mountaineer, has passed away in Kolkata, West Bengal. She led the first successful all-women expedition to Kedarnath Dome in Garhwal Himalaya which was organized by city-based Himalayan Association to commemorate the International Year of Women in 1975.

fiction writer and essayist. She won the Sahitya

Akademi Award in 1980 for her novel Zindaginama

Fellowship, the highest award of the Akademi. In

2017, she received the Jnanpith Award for her contribution to Indian literature.

He later worked at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT). He was vice-chancellor of OUAT from 1981 to 1985.Mishra was also the chairman of State Planning Board from 1985 to 1990.
