Dear Parents Road safety and crossing at the school traffic light

For your own safety we are reminding our pupils to ensure that

when crossing the road you are totally focused and aware of your

surroundings. Please do not get distracted by your phone or use

your earphones which block traffic noise. This is a basic rule but

one which is not always adhered to when crossing a road.

Discipline and Uniform

It is important for our pupils and parents alike to be aware that our

code of conduct is very clear with regard to behavior. Furthermore

our school uniform is to be worn correctly as is clearly outlined in

the diary. We endeavor to instill a sense of pride in our pupils and

trust that our parents support us in this.

Financial matters

Statements have been sent home via the learners. Unless fees have

been paid in full, parents should receive a statement of account. For

those parents not on the debit order system, please note that the

first installment for school fees was due on 31 January 2017. Please

ensure that installments are up to date. We do depend on our school

fees for the smooth running of our school. We now also have

snapscan as well for ease of payment.

60th Celebrations – Easter Festival Advertisers needed

Easter Holidays for a multi-disciplinary sports festival. There will

be a total of eight schools participating in this event and by placing

Open Day for 2018 Gr 8’s

7 March 2017 from 16h30 We encourage all our parents to continue to assist us in sourcing

quality learners from our feeder area and local schools. Your positive

marketing is vital to our school in benefiting from strong academic

and sporting applicants. We remind all current parents with Grade 7

children to ensure that they submit their applications in time. The

process now includes the online application and will be explained at

this event.

We also remind all parents that Hyde Park High School is the only

SCHOOL MAJOR PRODUCTION

2017

3 – 6 May 2017

Rehearsals for our production In the Heights are well under way and we encourage all parents and pupils to ensure that you have your seat booked. This is a South African first for the production to be staged in our country, let alone as a school production and is an energetic, hip-hop infused Latin musical. The tickets will be on sale from the office foyer during breaks and after school from 13 March 2017.

Rehearsals are taking place 3 – 4 times a week and we look

forward to a slick and professional production.

Resource payments

All resource materials should have been paid for by now with the

deadline which was the 3rd February 2017 having passed.

Late comers

Pupils have been asked to arrive to school timeously and to enter the

property immediately on arriving at school rather than gathering in

the Loop Road. Parents are to please assist in ensuring that their

children are not late for school as this will impact on your child’s

academic day.

Grade 11 Camp It is a well-established tradition of the school that the Grade 11

learners each year attend a leadership and team building camp to

prepare for their upcoming leadership as matrics. The camp also

serves as an opportunity to further cement their relationship as a

group. The camp has always been one of the highlights of the year

and has been immensely successful in the past. I have no doubt that

this year will be no different. The camp runs from Thursday 17

August 2017 to Sunday 20 August 2017 at Spirit of Adventure in

Magaliesburg and will cost R1 600 per person (including transport,

accommodation, food and activities)

Payment can be made in a maximum of two equal installments; the

first half (R800) by 13 March 2017 and the second (R800) by 22

May 2017. Please note that no learner will be allowed to attend this

course unless payment has been made in full by 22 May 2017 and has

submitted a signed Consent and Indemnity form.
