Everyday Stewardship
I read an article in "Esquire" magazine about graciousness. The article began, "Graciousness looks easy, but of course it is not. Do not mistake mere manners for graciousness. Manners are
rules. Helpful, yes. But graciousness reflects a state of being; it emanates from your inventory of self" (Chiarella, Tom. "How to
be Gracious and Why," May 2013). I think that all mature disciples of Jesus Christ should reflect a high level of
graciousness in their life. It lends evidence to the joy of the Lord that resides in their heart and the grace that fills their being.
Being gracious is a characteristic of an Everyday Steward. Even in the ordinary circumstances of the day, good stewards display a
giving demeanor that makes others take notice. Graciousness really makes a difference when it is displayed instead of anger, resentment, or ridicule. No story explains this more powerfully
than the parable of the prodigal son.
In Jesus' parable, the father has every reason to share with his son his hurt and dissatisfaction upon his returning home after he
wasted his inheritance and disgraced his family. Instead, his gracious response is overwhelming, so much so that the other
son who has remained faithful becomes disgruntled. A gracious steward gives without asking why or care for the cost. And with
grace comes mercy, not human justice. With true justice, we would all suffer. But with mercy, comes love and the chance to
begin again.
By developing graciousness in our lives, we become instruments of grace for the world around us. We provide glimpses of heaven
and the love of the Father for his sons and daughters. And the feasts we prepare for those here on earth give them a taste of the
heavenly banquet that awaits when we finally come home.

La Corresponsabilidad Diaria
Leí un artículo en la revista "Esquire" sobre la gentile-za y la afabilidad. El artículo comenzó de esta manera: "La gentileza y la afabilidad parecen fáciles, pero por
supuesto no lo son. No confundamos los buenos modales con la gentileza y la afabilidad. Los buenos
modales son reglas. Son útiles, eso sí, pero la gentileza y la afabilidad reflejan un estado de ser; emana del inventario de tu propio yo" (Chiarella, Tom. "Cómo
ser gentil y afable, y por qué", mayo 2013, en inglés). Yo pienso que todos los discípulos de Jesucristo que
tienen madurez deben reflejar un nivel alto de gentile-za y afabilidad en su vida. Eso sirve de evidencia al
gozo en el Señor que reside en el corazón de ellos y la gracia que llena su ser.
Ser gentil y afable es una característica de los que viv-en diariamente la corresponsabilidad cristiana. Aun en las circunstancias ordinarias de cada día, los que viven
día a día su corresponsabilidad cristiana exhiben un comportamiento dadivoso que los demás notan. La gentileza y la afabilidad ciertamente marcan una
diferencia, contrario a la demostración de enojo, resen-timiento o menosprecio. No hay historia que explique
esto más poderosamente que la parábola del hijo pródigo.
En la parábola de Jesús el padre tiene todo el derecho
de demostrarle a su hijo su dolor e insatisfacción cuan-do regresó al hogar después de haber malgastado su
herencia y deshonrado a su familia. Por el contrario, su respuesta gentil es contundente a tal punto que el otro hijo, que ha permanecido fiel, se disgusta. La persona que vive con gentileza su corresponsabilidad cristiana da sin preguntar por qué ni preocuparse por el costo. Y
con la gracia viene la misericordia, no la justicia hu-mana. Con la verdadera justicia todos sufriríamos.
Pero con la misericordia viene el amor y la oportuni-dad de comenzar de nuevo.
Al cultivar la gentileza y la afabilidad en nuestra vida
nos convertimos en instrumentos de gracia para el mundo a nuestro derredor. Ofrecemos así un destello
del cielo y del amor del Padre para sus hijos e hijas. Y los festejos que preparamos para los que están aquí en la tierra les permiten saborear el banquete celestial que nos espera cuando por fin lleguemos a nuestro hogar
eterno.

Registration in the Parish Office one month prior to the date of which you wish to Baptize
Tuesday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm
(Space is Limited)
Requirement: The child must be less than 7 years of age
(Children 7+ must take catechism classes). Bring the original birth certificate of the child. If godparents are single (not cohabitating),
bring certificate of confirmation. If godparent are married, bring the marriage
certificate from the Catholic Church. Parents and sponsors must attend one (1)
Baptismal preparation class. We ask for a donation of $60.00.

Requisitos: El niño/a tiene que ser menor de 7 años

del niño / a. Si los padrinos son solteros (no viviendo en pareja) necesitan presentar una copia del certificado de confirmación. Si los padrinos son casados tienen que presentar
el certificado de matrimonio por la Iglesia Católica. Padres y padrinos deberán asistir a una (1) clase
de preparación para el bautismo. Hay una donación de $60.00
