For A Cause Events, together with GMR Entertainment are proudly introducing the first ever IFR Champions Cup Esports Edition.

Players will get the chance to virtually represent their employers (companies) by taking part in this unique corporate FIFA21 Tournament.

The tournament will be played on PlayStation 4.

IFR stands for iGaming, Fintech and Real Estate. The physical IFR Champions Cup football tournament hosted a number of teams from the three fastest growing industries in Malta. However, this time round, the IFR esports edition is being extended to include more sectors of the economy; namely Insurance, Hospitality, Tourism, Electronics and Information Technology.

There is an increasing rise of platforms offering live esports coverage and there is a visible growth in esports tournaments too. We would like to be part of this growth by creating something unique for Malta: the first ever corporate esports FIFA tournament!

The 14 BOV Premier League clubs for the 2019/20 season were represented by Maltese FIFA players.

The ePremier League kicked off on the 5th of January 2019 for UK players of EA SPORTS FIFA 19 aged 16 or over. Three rounds were played: an online qualification, live club playoffs and the ePremier League Final.

The MFA and GMR Entertainment, together with Electronic Arts, have established the Malta BOV ePremier League, an officially licensed EA event which has three stages: the qualifiers, a league phase and the knockout finals.

All 20 Premier League clubs hosted a live playoff round, giving two (2) EA SPORTS FIFA 19 competitors, (one for PlayStation and one for Xbox), the right to advance to the ePremier League Final.

The Partnership The ConceptFounders of the IFR Champions Cup and GMR Entertainment have joined forces to create the IFR Champions Cup esports edition!

The esports industry is currently without a doubt one of the hottest industries both globally and locally. As GMR Entertainment, we can proudly say that over the past eight years, we have worked very hard in order to make sure that we become the most recognisable esports company in Malta. Since our inception, we have organised more than 25 major events thanks to the constant support of both local and international sponsors. Over the years, we managed to build very strong relationships with highly respected brands and entities such as Gaming Malta, Malta Tourism Authority, Malta Football Association, Red Bull, Pepsi, GT Omega Racing, and AOC Gaming to name a few.

The competition will consist of two (2) stages: one to four qualifiers (depending on final numbers) leading to the final group stage / knockout tournament.

The qualifiers will be held across one (1) to four (4) match days, depending on the total number of registered participants. Each qualifier will be played as a single elimination tournament with a maximum of 128 players. All qualifiers will be held during the evening after work hours.

A total of 32 players will qualify for the main tournament which will consist of a Group Stage and Knockout format and will run for two days over the span of a weekend. Matches will be streamed, and entertaining live commentary will be provided throughout.

Having an updated website is an integral part of this project. This will serve as the main hub for the league along with the community engagement. The website will also be used to give online exposure to the sponsor as a means of an advertising medium.

Social networks are key, especially for the exposure we are after. There are countless digital media and social networking sites, all of which have unique characteristics and purposes. We will be using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube to provide exposure to our sponsors and to constantly keep our community up to date (via the GMR and IFR Champions Cup social media pages).

Over the last few years, streaming has grown into an essential tool for live engagement, especially with a generation that has moved away from other forms of traditional media. Global esports is estimated to grow tremendously in revenue in the next couple of years. Currently, the three largest streaming websites are Twitch, YouTube Gaming and Facebook Live.

Matches from the Main Tournament which are set to be held on the 22nd and 23rd May 2021 will be streamed in order to allow familie s, friends, and colleagues of players to watch and follow the matches in real time. Viewers will also be able to support our Charity Campaign in real time too through an in-stream link.

issue the invoice accordingly.

Once the invoice is settled, we will send you a link which you can share with

It is important to note that through the link, the interested participants will

directly register for the IFR Esports Edition Online Qualifiers.

The administration charge for the additional participants (if any) that register

over and above the package free player mark will be paid after the qualifiers.
