All was merry & bright — not to mention delicious — when IFDA NY celebrated the season with NKBA

Manhattan and IDS at B/S/H Experience & Design Center. Generous host Thermador even remembered the

neediest: Rock CAN Roll collected our donations of food, formula, and things for babies.

REVVING UP THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT

THE MADDING CROWD: How many IFDA members does it take

to make a party? Enough to overflow the photobooth, a fave

feature at the Holiday Social.

NEWS JAMIE DRAKE + CALEB ANDERSON: Mega merger coming in 2016! Two IFDA stars -- one long bright, one Rising -- sent a frisson through the design industry earlier this month when they announced the merger of their firms, Drake Design Associates and Caleb

Anderson Design.

As reported in AD, Jamie explained, '"I've been in business 37 years...(and) I wanted to keep excitement levels high, energy levels up, and to have new challenges. I wanted to effect a partnership with someone."

The New York-based designer Caleb Anderson was his number one choice, AD wrote.

"Caleb embodies all of the attributes that one needs to run a firm," Drake says, listing off his myriad qualifications....Of course, it didn't hurt that the Texas-born Anderson got his break in the design world with an internship at Drake Design Associates in 2008.

"It's funny to think back about walking into that office on the first day," said Caleb (who was named an IFDA NY Rising Star in 2014). "It really feels like things have come full circle, and I'm beyond humbled."

Congratulations have poured in from the industry, including applause from IFDA. "As we both have such warm connections with IFDA," Jamie responded, "It means a lot."

JONATHAN BRESSLER: Two invitations from Jonathan, one faux, one meant for real fun. The expert faux finisher will hold a two-day intensive workshop at his Bowery studio early in the New Year. Learn such traditional techniques as marbelizing, wood-graining, Venetian plaster, and crackle from a master who has taught at the NY School of Interior Design and been widely published (including his own show-stopping loft). More info: jonathanbressler.com.

Meanwhile, party at Jonathan's loft on New Year's Day: Tout IFDA was invited for food, fun, and dancing.

REGINA ORTENZI: Add "Cover Girl" to her list of achievements (textile designer, design director for Gloria Vanderbilt, teacher at Pratt and Parsons). Regina and husband of 37 years, Bob Button, were featured on the cover of November's Wyomissing Neighbors, the slick mag of Wyomissing/Reading, PA. Here's what else we learned: that Bob was a freelance writer who covered NASA from Houston as the "Voice of Gemini;" that he used to pilot his own plane, once with astronaut Neil Armstrong as co-pilot; that he won FAA's Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, and was Grand Marshal of the Memorial Day parade in their new neighborhood.

JEANNE BYINGTON, FIFDA. Call her crafty with a capital C, but no articles, please! Jeanne's firm, JM Byington & Associates, Inc. deftly handled promotions for last month's third Fine Craft Show extravaganza -- 90 top artisans showing their expertise in glass, ceramics, pottery, furniture, and rugs. Where? Brooklyn Museum, as it's now officially called. Confirms Jeanne: saying The Brooklyn Museum is old-speak.

PAULA CECERE: Wedding bells rang out in Brooklyn last month for Paula and freelance photographer/editor Dan Smith (see his work at behance.net/dan_smith_photo). It caused a mad dash from New Zealand for Paula, who had started working for Fisher & Paykel and spent two weeks there just prior to the wedding. "A bit crazy, but I made it work," the bride

reports. "Dan and I met last May and clicked immediately. He is fun, kind, and makes me laugh...and proves there are good guys still out there." Also FYI: the Fisher & Paykel showroom, where Paula is Design and Architect Manager, opens in February on E. 58th.

ROSE HITTMEYER: Blue words = long green for the IFDA Educational Foundation, reports Rose. "We have installed a Swear Jar where any member or guest may pay fines for past trangressions...or in advance for any future swearing you anticipate." The "severity and length of your swear"determines the amount. Rose won't tell who's made the most contributions so far, but, she says, "Even if you swear at home, we welcome all contributions, which will be applied to the EF Fund at the end of the year." A helluva good idea, ye$!
