Brief History SIIT is a small focused an academic conference focused on Standards
Research and Innovation.
Founded in 1999 by Kai Jacobs at the Technical University of Aachen in Germany.
The conference has run every two years in Europe, The Americas and Asia.
It attracts mainly academics but has gained some government, SDO and industry attention.
Attendance has remained between 50 and 80 each year, with most of the attendees in some way involved with the conference, either as presenters, reviewers or committee members.
In 2012 IEEE SA acquired SIIT intending to broaden SIIT’s appeal from a solely academic conference into an industry and public policy showcase.
