Human Resources News

Welcome, New Employees!

Hillary Smith, Law Clerk for Chief Justice Jones grew up in Roy, Utah. She met Will (Law Clerk for Justice Burdick) at Utah State, when they were both undergraduates. He walked her home from class every day. She attended law school at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. While there, she enjoyed the beach and became a true Tarheel fan. She and

Will have four kids, the oldest is 8 and the youngest is 3 months. She is happy to be in Boise and at the Court.

Alexandra (Ali) Breshears, Law Clerk for Chief Justice Jones, recently graduated from Concordia University cum laude in May. At graduation, she was awarded Pro Bono Honors for Service Over 100 Hours. She served as the Executive Managing Editor of the Concordia Law Review for its inaugural publica-

tion, and has a law review article entitled “Use of Armed Drones By Domestic Law Enforcement: Presence and the Fourth Reasonableness Factor” that will be published in the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law Review’s forthcoming 2016 publication. Prior to law school, she studied at Northwest Nazarene University and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science and a minor in History. She and her husband are both Boise natives, and currently live in Meridian with their two Airedale terriers.

Using Your Vision Benefit Each active employee medical plan includes a Vision Benefit. Blue Cross of

Idaho contracts with Vision Service Plan (VSP) to administer this benefit.

Participants can choose a VSP network provider or non-network vision care provider; the benefit payable is identical, the difference is the method in which claims are submitted. A VSP network provider should be able to submit the claim to VSP directly, where a non-network vision care provider may require payment in full from you at the time of service and then it’s up to you to self-submit your claim to VSP for reimbursement of the benefit amount. Vision care providers may offer additional discounts to patients on products and services, but the benefit paid by the State’s plan under the Vision

Benefit does not change.

For detailed information about your Vision Benefit, view the medical plan contracts or visit the VSP website where you can set up an account to submit

your claim.

You are also welcome to contact the Office of Group Insurance with any

questions.

Over 100 area professionals attended the free trainings, including magistrate judges, law enforcement, attorneys, counselors, social workers, victim advocates, mediators, domestic violence evaluators, child protection advocates, treatment providers, probation officers, and many more. The REMINDER event is our new post-it note!

REM—Reminder—Further Clerk Action Required

Add a due date.

Once the reminder is no longer needed, you can enter a

“Completed” date or simply delete the event.

A report can be set up to run automatically (Event Review) so you

can follow-up on any pending reminders. (Please see the Remind-

ers and Event Due Dates Quick Guide.)

Best Practices

Restart/reboot your system daily!

Rebooting your system daily enables system updates. If you don’t

reboot daily, you’ll have to manually force a system update (by

restarting your computer and pressing CTRL-SHIFT on the Odyssey

application icon). A box will pop-up with the updates and process

them. Once complete, you can complete your log-in process).

NOTE: Your county IT team may suggest turning off your system at

the end of your day, instead of practicing a daily reboot.

Prevent accidental system shutdowns in Ada County court-

rooms!

Please check the Judge Edition Connection Setting Quick Guide

before logging in on a new computer/new courtroom for the first

time—always select the “Connections” tab to select a calendar.

The Resources tab should not be used as it changes configuration.
