INTRODUCTION

In this ICI final project, we must find a

partner to form a group of two.We were given a

task, to find a site with the size in between

30x30m(900m²) to 30x40m(1200m²). We were

required to initiate and propose small

construction at the chosen site.

The site should serve one of the following

purposes:

1. Recreation area

2. Commercial area

3. Industrial area

4. Agricultural area

5. Tourism area

6. Residential area

INTRODUCTION TO OUR SITE

After we had our discussion together, we

decided to propose this site as a recreation

area. That is Pocket Park.

We had selected an empty land nearby

Taylor’s University Lakeside as our 30x40meter

site.

LOCATION PLAN

This is our location plan. Located near

the Taylor’s University Lakeside and

Senza Residence(Bottom-cannot be seen

here)

SITE PLAN

The red rectangular shape at left side of

Jalan Taylors is our site.

SITE ANALYSIS

SITE ANALYSIS

SUNLIGHT

In our site, the sunlight come from the east to

west our site. During the sunny day, it will be

very hot because there aren’t any trees.

CIRCULATION

There are many cars passing our site, because

there are two busy street beside our site.

WEATHER

The weather of the site is not so good since

there’s no trees around that area. It’ll be

quite stuffy. When it’s raining, soil erosion

will occurs because the site doesn’t have any

trees and grasses to grab on the soil.

WIND

There will be less wind in our site because

there is a building blocking the wind that blow

to our site.

OBSERVATION

There are a few roadways near the site.

Since there are roads, it would be a lot of

cars passing by. The air will be polluted

easily and also the noise pollution cannot be

avoided.

There is a building behind the site, it’s

blocking the air flowing from behind. Only the

wind from east can flow to the site.

There are no plants can be seen around the

site. The air at the site is not fresh and

polluted. Also, the air around there has a

strong stale smell after raining. This kind of

condition is not suitable for living.

SKETCH PLAN

This is our original sketch plan. But after this we decided to change some construction over here. You can see it in the Master Plan.

PERSPECTIVE SKETCH

- This is the entrance to the park from the

Taylor’s University.

- From the entrance, you can see the

beautiful fountain

- The trees give the whole atmosphere the

relaxation feeling.

- Benches are provided which allows the

people to sit down when they’re tired of

walking.

MASTER PLAN

This is the

master plan

of our

proposal.

ENTRANCE

From Taylor’s University Residence

BENEFITS AND FACILITIES OF PROPOSAL SITE

Our proposal site is a pocket park. This

park is open to public. Anyone can come

especially for the residents from Senza

Residence, PJS 7 and the students from Taylor’s

University.

BENCH

By adding a wooden

bench, it maximizes the

use of space. More

people can be fitted

into the selected area

and it also provides

more seats for people.

By doing so, more people can enjoy the nice

scenery as well as having a place to hang out

with friends. Students can do reading there or

just sit there and rest.

STALL

When you are hungry

or thirsty, you can

go to the stall and

have some food or

drinks.

OPEN SPACE

There will be

a large greenly

area. That you

can read your

books, do some

activities, and

enjoy your time

picnic with your

family.

FOUNTAIN

Everyone live in an increasingly stressful

world…the sound of water flowing from a water

fountain has a magically relaxing effect.

Everyone can imagine themselves at the ocean,

or by a babbling brook, and everyone may start

to unwind when you were in our pocket park.

FISH POND

You can walk around the fish pond and the

fish there are colourful and there have many

different kind of fishes in the pond. You can

also feed them with bread or fish food that

sell in the stall.

GAZEBO

The gazebo is near

by the stall, so

that you can have

your meals in there.

And when you are

tired, you can also

rest over there.

CONCEPT

After the site analysis, we came out with

our concept. Our concept is “Love the Earth”.

This concept is to allow the residents and the

students to be closed to the nature. This park

acts as the green lung of the busy city. Also,

it has the rabbit farm area which inspired the

Langkawi Oriental Village. Anyone can go there

to have a look and experience the fun of

feeding the rabbits.

PROJECT REQUIREMENT

The types of park should be compliment with

the surrounding area which include

residential area(Senza) and educational

area(Taylor’s University).

Our concept is to allow the nearby

residents and students to relax from the

hectic life. They can relax after the long

week of working and studying or after a

long day.

The designs of the park of the hawker

centre is to keep to the obligation of laws

and codes of practice set by the

authorities:

I.Uniform Building By-laws;

II.Town & Country Planning Act;

III.Department of Occupational Safety and

Health (JKKP)

IV.Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia (TNB);

V.Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor

SdnBhd(SYABAS);

VI.Majlis Perbandaraan Subang Jaya (MPSJ)

ARCHITECTURAL REQUIREMENT

The selection and proposal of construction:

- Fountain

- Rabbit farm

- Hawker stands

The utilities

- Lots of trees

- Benches (sitting area)

- Gazebo (BBQ area)

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, we realized that building a

recreation area is not an easy task even it is

at an empty space. We have to think of a lot of

ideas and have to compliment with the

surrounding area. Besides, we also need to do a

lot of research in order to avoid any problems

afterwards. We do hope that this recreational

area can help the students to release their

stress.
