Terrific Turtle Toddlers

Blossoming Butterflies News

Welcome all parents and caregivers to another edition of our newsletter. This month are looking at Farm animals as our Toddlers were interested in learning about differ-ent farm animals and singing Old MacDonald's farm songs. To extend on their learn-ing we are going to look at each farm animal and learn the sound they make, about their habitat and what they eat. In the room the children are participating in making collages of animals and have been busy making their own farm animals. If you have your spare moment please look around the room for your child’s art work and provide us feedback on your thoughts. We are reading books relating to farm animals, sing-ing animal songs and children are engaging in learning about animal sounds. The children are also focusing on the sports, as we are learn about different sports and physical exercise. Children have been participating in various arts and crafts relating to this topic. Last month we had speech pathologist visit and our children been observed in terms of developing speech, language, literacy, social skills and play skills. As part of the speech pathologist recommendation Toddler room are going to implement visuals cue for children to understand more about our routines. As it is winter time, could you please pack your child’s winter clothes and clearly la-bel them as we found lot of winter cloths that are not labelled. Kind regards Toddler Room Staff

Welcome to another month of news from the baby room. Welcome to another month of baby room news. This month in the babies room we are looking at under the sea. This theme was brought about by the babies taking a big in-terest into the fish tank. During the month of May we will be looking at shells, fish, sea animals and sand. This month you will see a extra friend in our fish tank this is Nemo. The children have also had the opportunity to look at the story book finding Nemo, along with listening to the little mermaid. So far the children have been participating in making sand angles in the sandpit along with building and crashing sand castles. So if you do notice your children coming home sandy this is probably the reason. We have also been making under the sea themed crafts. We would like to take this time to wish all the mother’s a happy Mother’s Day also a special mention to those that are having their first Mother’s Day. We hope you all have a fantastic and memorable Mother’s day and enjoy your special gift that your child helped make for you. Our herb garden for sustainability is coming along in large amounts in the babies room if you would like any herbs please speak to one of our staff to take some home. The following herbs we have available are mint, oregano, parsley, basil and thyme We do remind parents on a monthly basis but this is due to new families starting we need to remind parents the importance of labelling drink bottles, milk bottles and dum-mies. This is to help ensure children’s bottles are sent home with the correct child. Thank you for your understanding.

Keen Kitten Kindy P A G E 3

Welcome to another busy month of Kindy News. At Kidz Club we are very lucky to have so many fantastic families from many different cultures and diverse backgrounds. Multiculturalism is all about explor-ing various cultural festivals and beliefs and to especially celebrate Reconcilia-tion Week which is vitally important to our centre. The children will be doing a variety of Indigenous experiences including dot painting, listening to Dream-time stories, Indigenous music, researching the culture on the interactive board and will have a visit from some Indigenous Dancers. This month we are looking at different sports. We are talking to the children about various sports and practising these with them when outside. These in-clude the children having the opportunity to participate in Cirkidz which is a cir-cus arts program. Cirkidz activities enable children to participate and explore the way their bodies work, move, and play. They also allow children to develop there fine and gross motor skills. The children also love participating in Socca-joeys which enables the children to learn simple Soccer skills. Karate Lesson are another favourite which reinforce the concept of anti-bullying. The children will also be given the opportunity to participate in Wheelie Kids which entails a variety of motorized cars to promote road safety. We have started spitting the group into two groups (younger and older chil-dren) for French and Jolly Phonics which has been working really well. Jolly Phonics is a fun and child centred approach to teaching literacy through syn-thetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and letter sounds are split into seven groups. Jolly phonics also teaches children the five key skills for reading and writing. The programme continues through school enabling the teaching of es-sential grammar, spelling and punctuation skills (Jolly Phonics). Finally we hope that all the mum’s had a wonderful Mother’s Day and got spoilt by their families. We hope that you all liked your photo books that the children helped create for you and cherish those memories of their time at Kidz Club.

French Linguistic Program 2016 Bienvenue tout le monde - Welcome everyone!

We are excited to announce the commencement of our e-learning linguistic program, and hope that you have enjoyed the first presentation which was handed out to the children on May 12. Our e-learning program is designed to be a fun method of consolidating the language being taught dur-ing the children’s time at Kidz Club, with much encouragement being offered for parent participation during the e-lesson. This is a most important part of the language learning process, as it allows the children to revise and practice their French at a time that they feel comfortable, and just 10 minutes per day of revision, will assist your child in retaining the new vocabulary. Our French Linguistic Program Coordinator - Stuart (Tintin!) will take you on a fantastic journey each week, as we issue a new lesson for the whole family to peruse, and within a short period of time, you will have access to a vast database of French with Tintin lessons! A booklet is issued with each visual presentation (duration approx 9 mins) and will be handed out to parents upon receiving their children every Thursday, allowing the children to revise their French over the weekend, and we ask that the USB stick that contains the lesson, please be returned every Monday so we can load the next lesson and program booklet. Best wishes to all! Stuart Blair BLang BA Hons Flin French Linguistic program coordinator

Community Events P A G E 5

Sustainability News Currently Kidz Club is positive about focusing on our centre being an eco- efficient environment but edu-cating and delivering environmental and sustainable practices. A wonderful quote we believe in is: "Achieving sustainability will enable the earth to continue supporting human life" Ways we are currently achieving environmental and sustainability practices include:

Purchasing only cleaning products that are free of harmful toxins.

Use recycled materials in activity time particularly when children are engaged in construction play.

We have built a vegetable and herb garden that the children are able to tend too and observe the produce. All food produced will be used in our cooking.

When possible we find ways to conserve water and one example of this is using the water from water play time to water the vegetable garden.

Cut down of paper waste.

Recognise and celebrate community environmental events such as World Environment Day, etc

Use appropriate Recycling bins when discarding waste.

Developed a junior recycling program called "Lil Green Thumbs" which will educate your children on inter-esting facts and tips on how to care for the environment.

Look out in the monthly newsletter for "Lil Green Thumbs" enviro facts for your interest and photos of ac-tivities that have been delivered to the children in this area.

Staff are keeping well informed about any changes by reading resources, journals and books which in turn will be implemented into the programming where relevant.

Educators have developed a Top 10 list of ways they can implement environmental and sustainable prac-tices into their daily routine.

The purchased of energy efficient appliances.

In the near future Kidz Club will also undertake an eco efficiency audit to assess its carbon footprint and have invited guest speakers to the service from KESAB regarding Waste Management and City of Tea Tree Gully to find out more what green initiative they recommend.

If you would like to contribute to our ’Lil Green Thumbs’ recycling program you can encourage your child to bring in a item such as a milk carton, yoghurt containers or egg cartons and add to our recycling bin. Please note all items must be thoroughly cleaned and safe to be accepted.

If you have any questions or are passionate about environmental and sustainability practices and have any ide-as, please come and speak with our friendly staff.

Thank you for taking the time to read our

centre newsletter. Please remember our door is

always open and that we value family participation

across all aspects of our program.

Until next time.

Melva and all the Educators at Kidz Club.

Stuart and Hayley, our French Language Educators have bee collaborating together to present

the Kindy children with a wealth of knowledge and understanding in the French culture and lan-

guage. Recently they have implemented a take home program on a USB with the weekly lesson

plans and activities for the children and parents to be involved in. We have received some posi-

tive feedback from many families and children.

Educator Corner

Our professional learning programs are embedded in current research and practice, supporting services to deliver outcomes for children and families. The connection with our children's programs enables our professional learning to be relevant, ac-cessible and practical, supporting requirements under the National Quality Framework. Some future professional develop-ment will involve these topics. We work and advocate for the wellbeing and learning of all children, families and educators in our society.

Outdoor nature play QA: 3

The outdoor learning environment offers rich learning possi-bilities for children yet is often overlooked. Children learn

about the interdependence of living things, they observe and notice changes to the natural environment and consider how they impact and affect the world around them. • Share per-spectives and understandings of outdoor nature play • Ex-ploring the risks and benefits • Challenging constructs of

safety in connection with risk analysis and benefits based on current research.

Meaningful relationships: Valuing our families QA: 6 This session will examine practical ways educators can sup-port and facilitate collaborative partnerships. Mechanisms to develop partnerships based on active communication and consultation between families and educators will also be ex-plored. • Highlighting the importance of developing a rela-tionship or partnership with families • Identify key compo-nents of an effective partnership • Discussing and sharing successful strategies for involving families within the service program.
