Counting in 2s.Counting in even 2s.

An even number is a number that can be divided into 2 equal groups. Look at the number 8. Find 8 counters at home and put them into 2 groups. 8 can be divided into 2 equal groups.

Both groups have 4 pentagons. There aren't any left over. So that makes 8 an even number.

Now colour in all the even numbers blue.

What do you notice about the numbers you have coloured in?

They all end in 2 , 4 , 6 , 8 or 0 ! Yes zero!So those that you coloured in are even numbers!

Now complete these number patterns.

Plus sums have the biggest number at the end of the sum.

Minus sums have the biggest number at the front of the sum.

You can use the same numbers for the matching plus and minus sums.
