I CAN FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS WHEN I PRAY

Bible Passage: Matthew 6 : The Lord's Prayer

Key Passage: This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us. whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him. 1 JOHN 5:14-15 (NIV)

In the Bible passage for today, Jesus teaches the disciples how to pray by using the Lord's Prayer. This prayer can be seen as the per-fect recipe for a balanced prayer life. And the best part is, it's easy! Jesus shows us that in prayer we should simply praise God, confess our sins, thank God for all that he has done for us, and bring our re-quests to him. The cool thing is that the prayer does not sound like an elegant monologue or movie script. God does not care how clever a prayer is or how you look while you're doing it. What matters is the faith and heart behind what you're saying. God made it all so simple for a reason. He wants to hear us pray! When and where do you most enjoy praying? Discuss other opportunities you have to pray during the day.

With your family, brainstorm ways in which you can add prayer to your daily lives. Try breaking the Lord's Prayer into sections and dis-cussing the importance of each part. Then, talk about how those parts relate to the average work or school day. God wants you to be in con-stant prayer. He wants to hear your voice! So, why not use the very recipe Jesus gave you?!
