Dear Parish Family, Last Sunday, we had 43 parishioners come to St. Patrick to receive Holy Communion between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30. We will offer the same service next Sunday (June 7th). This is Phase I of our Returning to Mass. Everything worked fairly smoothly … thanks to you and our ushers. It was so heart-warming to see you again! “Bold Faith and Prudent Safety” is what we are charged with.

We received spiritual food on Sunday, and food for our bodies Friday night at our first-time ever “Parking Lot Delivery” fish fry! Hoping for 80 to 100 call-in orders for “the best fish fry in town”, there were 173! Parish Events members were really hopping, trying to please many hungry customers! And then … heaven forbid … they began running out of food! Only perch and baked haddock remained … no dessert, no coleslaw, no rye bread was left! Our workers merely wanted to empty the freezer, not knowing how long COVID-19 would hang around and how many of you would be interested in fish dinners. They deserve much credit for how they performed under crazy, crazy odds! What a great crew! Thank you!

“Bold Faith and Prudent Safety” will be our mantra as we gear up for our first Mass since March 8th. We are hoping to begin Phase II on June 14th, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi (how appropriate … The Body and Blood of Christ)! Before then, I will be communicating with the Diocese and tracking the trajectory of COVID cases in our neighboring counties. If there is a major spike in Wisconsin with positive testing, we will continue with our Communion Outside of Mass. We must remain flexible because our safety … yours and mine … is on the line. All of the safety protocols from Phase I must remain in place. We want everyone to be safe, so please be patient with us!

Our 8:30 and 10:30 Masses on June 14th will each have a 25% capacity … approximately 50-60 worshippers per Mass. Our Liturgy Committee will be working out the details, maintaining social distancing, etc. It will take a while before we are back to the normal of pre-March 8 Masses … and we will have the flexibility of going back and forth between Phase I and Phase II.

(I remind you again: If you are considered “high risk” and more vulnerable to the virus, you should consider not attending Mass and continue to watch a live-streamed or pre-recorded Mass on TV. If you are ill, have a fever, been out of the country, or been exposed to someone with COVID-19, PLEASE stay home!) More info will be coming in next week’s bulletin.

Peace!

~Mary K. “ … humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interests, but [also] everyone for those of others.”

(Phil 2:3-4)

Two Popular Men Closer to Sainthood On Wednesday, May 27, the Vatican announced that it was approving miracles, thereby advancing the causes of two widely-admired American and European spiritual figures.

Ven. Fr. Michael J. McGivney (1852-1890) was an American priest and founder of the Knights of Columbus who is remembered for his care for those on the margins, especially those suffering from anti-Catholic prejudice and discrimination. He passed away at the early age of 38 years old after contracting an illness (possibly Coronavirus) during a time of pandemic. Bl. Charles De Foucauld (1858-1916) was a French hermit and priest remembered for his evangelistic heart and celebrated spiritual meditations on the topics of silence and solitude. He attributed his encounters with poverty and the witness of devout Muslims as catalysts for his return to the Catholic faith. Suffering martyrdom at the hands of bandits, the legacy of Fr. De Foucauld has continued to inspire countless generations.

Examining Our Subconscious Perceptions By our baptism, we have become members of Christ's body. As such, there can be no room for unjust discrimination to reside within our hearts. In their 2018 pastoral letter, "Open Wide Our Hearts," (usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/racism/upload/open-wide-our-hearts.pdf) the US Catholic Bishops write:

"Racism can often be found in our hearts - in many cases placed there unwillingly or unknowingly by our upbringing and culture. As such, it can lead to thoughts and actions that we do not even see as racist, but

nonetheless flow from the same prejudicial root. Consciously or subconsciously, this attitude of superiority can be seen in how certain groups of people are vilified, called criminals, or are perceived as being unable to contribute to society, even unworthy of its benefits." As "disciples on the way," it is the responsibility of each one of us to become aware of any attitudes we may hold (even subconsciously) which fail to recognize the dignity of any members of our one, human family. To help identify these subconscious connections, check out this simple activity produced by the USCCB at www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/racism/upload/examining-our-subconscious-perceptions.pdf.

GOSPEL MEDITATION—Encourage Deeper Understanding of Scripture

A well-choreographed dance can be truly inspirational. Each movement and step are interconnected, each contributing a piece of the unfolding artistic story. The beholder is caught up in the rhythms, music, and gestures, realizing that none are dispensable and all are necessary. The same is true of the Divine Dance of the Trinity. Each Person plays a part, using unique gestures and movements that are connected to the other Divine Partners. They tell a story of love. Every movement and step is born of love and flows on into eternity. The Divine Dance never ends. God the Creator powerfully, yet with gentle love, leads. Creating and recreating, birthing and sustaining, He dances with the compassionate incarnate Son, guided by the breath of the Holy Spirit. They are three distinct Persons but move as One. On one hand, the cascading flow of their Presence appears motionless, yet on the other, flows and moves with effortless attention. They share one heart, one goal, and one purpose and invite all of creation to join in their dance, their joy. The energy of the Trinity flows through all created things. It is a dance of the heart, not of the mind. It has to be experienced, not dissected, and contemplated, not understood. We stand in awe of the Divine Dance and find ourselves watching in amazement all that God creates and sustains. The dance continues in the majesty of a mountain, the power and wonder of an ocean, and the vastness of the universe. It moves in the cry of a newborn infant and in the soul of one who has been forgiven. It flows in the cry for justice and in the wounds of the oppressed. It circles through the changing of seasons, the cycles of birth and death, and the wisdom that one acquires when they love God. The Dance never ends. Its movements and rhythms go on forever. The Trinitarian Dance sustains all things, endures all things, and brings hope. You are invited to dance. Don’t just watch as if you were simply a spectator. Join in the dance and move as they move. ©LPi

"For evangelization today, the Heart of Christ must be recognized as the heart of the Church: It is He who calls us to conversion, to reconciliation. It is He who leads pure hearts and those hungering for justice along the way of the Beatitudes. It is He who achieves the warm communion of the members of the one Body. It is He who enables us to adhere to the Good News and to accept the promise of eternal life. It is He who sends us out on mission. The heart-to-heart with Jesus broadens the human heart on a global scale."

~ Pope St John Paul II

The Most Holy Trinity Sunday Sunday June 7, 2020

Exodus 34:4b-6, 8-9; Daniel 3:52-56; 2 Corinthians 13:11-13; John 3:16-18

Today we celebrate the Divine dance, a perfectly choreographed interplay of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Together they dance and move as one though three unique Persons with distinctive, yet harmonious, patterns and steps. They provide a mirror into our soul. Within each one of us, the Divine dance continues, and the music of God’s love continues to inspire, sustain, and recreate us with every step and melody. Can you hear the music that the Triune God is playing? Where is the dance leading you? Our minds can never truly understand or know God. But our hearts can seek and find Him. From beginning to end, God is one and, at the same time, Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier. God’s holy Trinitarian dance is calling you to holiness. Join in and dance!

REFLECT AND RESPOND TO SCRIPTURE First Reading: In Moses’ appeal to the Lord to remain

with the Israelites despite their sinfulness, God reveals his fidelity and mercy. Where do you see these aspects of God in your life journey?

Second Reading: We hear today one of the earliest New Testament references to the Holy Trinity in Paul’s closing remarks to the Christians in Corinth. For Paul, the Trinity embodies grace, love, and fellowship. What insight does this offer us about our Triune God?

Gospel Reading: This well-known text from the Gospel of John reveals to us God’s self-sacrifice for our salvation. Why do you think so many people reject or simply ignore this offer of eternal life from God? ©LPi

Prayer for Spiritual Communion Dear Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive your Body and Blood. Since I cannot at this

moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. Stay close to me, Jesus, so that I may be close to all our sisters and brothers, especially those who are most in need of your loving care. Amen.

Thank You So Much to everyone who came out to support our fish fry! We had hoped for 60-80, planned for 100, and you blew us away with over 170 orders! Unfortunately, this amazing turnout meant we ran out of sides and desserts faster than planned and lead to missing items in some meals. We apologize to anyone who experienced this disappointment and we will use this experience to help our future planning. Again, thank you for taking a chance on our first pick-up fish fry and for showing tremendous support for St. Patrick! Sincerely, Your Parish Events Team
