Hywind Demo - 2009

Technip fabricated and installed Hywind DEMO in 2009 Substructure and mooring EPCI WTG & Tower delivered by Siemens/Statoil Subsea cable by Nexans Assembly at Karmøy

..and now we have been asked to do it again

4

5 off Substructures (CPI) from Spain to Stord

Evaluated 2 alternatives Semi-sub transport Normal towing

Operational Synergies:- SPAR technology and transport methods- Operational analysis

Montecarlo weather simulations indicated 16 days WOW for the towing

VS.

Substructure transport from Spain

5

Length Substructure: 198 m (~220 m incl protruding pipes) Diameter: 50 m

6

Upending by pumping ~5000Te seawater into each substructure to achieve required draft

Two phases: Upending Final ballasting

Operational Synergies:- Experience from Hywind Demo- Operational analysis and 3D simulations

Stability simulations performed with HydroD (DNV Sesam Software)

Static configuration Dynamic configuration

Substructure Upending at Stord

7

Pre-installed inshore mooring arrangement

Single barge arrangement for pre-mating activities (upending and solid ballasting)

Optimisation of assembly siteStord

Floating Quay Setup – Phase I

Operational Synergies:- Local experience from offshore fabrication- Personnel working at height- Use of conventional barges

8

Stord Base Location

Issues with current loads on barge and mooring lines Alternative locations were evaluated

Operational Synergies:- Contact with Havforskningsinstituttet and MET office- Local experience from Stord

Floating Quay Setup – Phase I - Solid Ballasting

9

Ballasting water to be replaced with Magnadense 8 rock

Rock installed by VanOord

Combined rock installation and water removal to maintain constant draught

Tower Assembly & Mating, Stord base

11

Performed by SAIPEM 7000

Tower assembly by Norsea Group, Stord

Tower Assembly & Mating, Stord base

Example of potential location at Stord

Accommodate mated WTG’sCommissioning and prepare for towing

Floating Quay Setup – Phase II (initial setup)

13

Analysis of 4- barge “one-quay” solution

Analysis is performed in Diodore Wind and waves from metocean design basis Different wind turbulence models used for calculating

the wind forces acting on the wind turbines Very high mooring forces are shown, even before

attaching the substructures

4 barge solution considered not viable due to mooring forces exceeding barge capacity

Operation split to 3 barge solution

Operational Synergies:- FE Analysis for offshore mooring combined with landbased wind loads- Internal knowledge of wave and current forces, and tight interface with wind technology

Floating Quay Setup – Phase II

15

Towing to Field

16

Towing spread 4 days tow from Stord to field Tow analysis in Orcaflex Tow simulation by Marintek Survey of the fjord

VIM Concern Towing test in Trondheim Tow wire length & chain dimension changed Less tugs will lead to different vibration

modes Contingency procedures

Operational Synergies:- Use of Orcaflex for towing simulations- Experience from towing Hywind Demo and Spars

Towing to Field

17

Anchor installation Pretensioning of anchors and chains Final hook-up with MacGregor Pusnes Fairlead

Chain Stopper system

Hook-up – mooring systems

Operational Synergies:- Anchor design and selection method- AHV chain operations by experienced subcontractors

18

Umbilical installation (by others)

Operational Synergies:- Conventional lazy wave configuration for umbilical installation- Landfall drilling experience
