Missions news Allen and Amy George (Peru)

“Last weekend I traveled with some of my coworkers to see one of their breakfast program sites. Each school day, the local church provides 70 kids in Chalhuanca, Arequipa, two pieces of bread, cooked oatmeal and a lemon. Serving In Mission provides milk, bread, sugar, oatmeal and lemons and the local church provides firewood, someone to cook the food and someone to give a short Bible devotional each morning. There are a few requirements for a church to participate in the program, and one is a proper bathroom and they have not provided one so far. With the added incentive of not having a breakfast program, we hope the bathrooms will be completed soon. “

Carolyn Thorson (Gabon) “On September 6 the Bongolo Nursing School opened it’s doors to 13 new students. Monday was the day for the new students to register, sign their contracts, learn the school policies and take a tour of the Bongolo Hospital. Monday afternoon they started their first crash course in nursing techniques. Tuesday the students began classes in public health and pharmacology. The first two weeks of nursing school students take introductory classes in an accelerated form followed by final exams. On September 20 the first regular trimester starts. Please pray for our students as they take these accelerated classes in preparation for the fall trimester.”

Missions Prayer for Missions

Lance & Karina Grush (El Salvador): “Please pray for the gang situation in our city as the gangs and the government are practically at war with each other. Pray for safety and for God to use this situation to turn people to Christ.”

Short-Term Missions: Pray for the CCC team that will be leaving for Mali September 19. Part of this team will do medical work at the hospital and rest will do construction at the hospital. Pray for safe travels and effective ministry.

Norman & Vickie Sutton (Guatemala): “Please pray for Vickie’s health, that she will recover and get her strength back soon. Pray that we will not miss what God is trying to teach us through these struggles. It is hard on Norman as well not to have his wife healthy. “

Dusty & Julia Reynolds (Mali): Pray for the Reynolds business, called Sababu Manufacturing, as a local journalist recently wrote a very negative article about the business. Pray that God would use this to spread His light to the people in Mali as Sababu stands out as a Christian business.

Short-Term Mission Team (Mali): Praise God for the short-term mission team from Mali that has returned safely. Pray for the 400+ adults and young people who heard the gospel for the first time. Pray for those who have placed their faith in Jesus and that their new faith would grow.

Graham & Carrie Frank (South Asia): “Please remember Carrie as she is home without Graham in the house. Graham has lots of travel ahead and is guiding the design process of a school project with limited experience on the architectural side.”

Parking offsiteCCC’s mission is all about God and people. It is about connecting people to God in worship, service and joy, and what happens on Sunday morning is a key to making that connection happen.Did you know that our biggest limiting factor on Sunday morning may be parking? Guests who arrive a few minutes behind schedule want to park as close as possible, but often find the visitor slots and most of the parking lot filled, causing frustration and confusion. For those who call CCC their home, would you be willing to leave home five minutes early and intentionally park in the Gallup/Payflex lot? This will leave more places open in the church lot for those who are new and will increase the number of people who could worship at CCC on Sunday mornings in a significant way. This is always an important issue, but especially for the next eight weeks when attendance swells. Thanks so much for serving Christ in this simple way!

City-wide prayer eventEmbrace the Heartland in Prayer invites you to join believers from around the city September 20 / 6 PM / City-County Building to pray for city and county officials. There will be a unique opportunity to pray in the Legislative Chambers at the City-County Building for many of these officials. John Ewing, Douglas County Treasurer, will lead the

meeting. Several other ministry leaders and pastors from the city will lead the prayer times.

Worship set listsThe worship set lists from each venue are posted weekly at music.cccomaha.org. This is a great resource for those who found meaning in a song during worship and want to find the song details.

Financial resources are a blessing, a result of God’s provision and a tool to be used to worship God. Followers of Christ acknowledge that material possessions belong to God and the return of money to the local church is an investment in the Kingdom.

What should I know about Kingdom investing? It is a privilege to participate in the work of the local church by contributing cheerfully, sacrificially and generously (emphasis on 2 Corinthians 8 and 9). Through prayer, seek a clear conscience in regard to investing in the work God

has given CCC to accomplish. If you are visiting or you are not yet a follower of Christ, make today’s priority to focus on the larger issue: the relationship God offers through Jesus. Contact Tim Perry if you have questions about your faith journey / [email protected].

How do I participate?Participate during services at both campuses or set up eTithiing online. You may also place checks or cash in the secure giving box on the wall near the office entrance at the Old Mill Campus.

An offering envelope is required to obtain a receipt for cash offerings. Contribution envelopes can be obtained at the Old Mill Campus from the Office Services Window, and service venues. At the Sarpy Campus, they are located at the Information Table. Contact Doni Gregory at [email protected] / 938.1512 to receive preprinted envelopes. eTithing registration is also available at cccomaha.org.
