Dear Parents
Last week you did not hear from me as instead we posted the information on how to make your online
bookings for the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences. These will be held on Monday and Tuesday,
October 18 and 19. The new system has proven to be very efficient and as of yesterday we had received
conference requests from 339 parents with a total of 1,232 confirmed conferences. Thank you for your
assistance with this new system. Please see Mr. Mike Dickinson’s note in this bulletin about how to make
these conferences and how and when you will be able to book additional conferences from the initial
limit of four.
Last
week
we
heard
the
roar
of
Bearcat
Spirit
around
the
corridors
of
the
HS,
as
we
witnessed
the
annual
ISSBA organized Battle of the Bearcats or BOB as it is more commonly called. I am sure you have already
heard much about this year’s action. According to the HS Student Planner the purpose of BOB is to
promote student involvement in activities and class spirit; and, of course, school spirit. I am very pleased
to report that this year’s BOB was an outstanding success, with many reports that this was in fact the best
ever! We were very proud of our seniors who gave the freshmen a standing ovation for their first up
involvement in BOB.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish our first season IASAS teams all the best for their respective
tournaments. A special thanks to all our first season coaches; their mission is to develop skills and
attitudes that make each and every student the best that they can possible be. Good luck Bearcats. Enjoy
IASAS!
This is a timely reminder as we plan for our second season of athletics, as well as a myriad of other
activities, that in schools like ISM there are many rich opportunities. I encourage all students to pursue
their personal interests and to get involved in co‐curricular activities. For those students who feel that
they have had extra work recently, I hope they will be able to enjoy this weekend, as our designated no
homework weekend.
Kind Regards

ISM High School Parent Teacher Conferences 2010
Dear Parents / Guardians,
I’d like to start by giving you all, as a group, a grade “A” and a huge “well done!” for yourdemonstrated understanding, participation and patience regarding the new on-line scheduling of your child’s conference this October 18th and 19th. Thank you to those who have been extremelyhelpful and polite with your feedback regarding the system – we will take your suggestions onboardfor v2.0 in 2011.
You will have noticed that the system only allows you to make up to 4 PTC reservations at this time. You will be able to make more reservations in about one week’s time. On Monday October 11th, wewill allow a further 4 conferences to be made by all families (assuming that there are still vacantslots available). We started with this staggered approach in an attempt to avoid an initial stampede, where all conferences we being taken by only half of our families.
Just to clarify, the system has been programmed in-house by the IT department here at school and isnot a PowerSchool plug-in or add-on. This may explain the tone of apprehension in my initial emailto you all. So far, more than 1200 conferences have been scheduled by over 350 parents. Again, well done!
If you have misplaced the instructions for making reservations, then they are available either byclicking on the “PTC Scheduler” link when you log on to PowerSchool, or by downloading last week’sHS Friday Bulletin from the ismanila.org website.
If you have made a reservation that for whatever reason you find yourself unable to honor, pleaseeither let us know so that we can cancel the reservation for you, or simply cancel it yourself on-line.This will make these conferences available to other ISM families and will go a long way in ensuringthat all families have the opportunity to speak with teachers on those two days.
We are relying on your continued cooperation and, as always, appreciate your support.
Regards,
Mike DickinsonHigh School Assistant PrincipalInternational School Manila
