HS Announcements: Tuesday, Nov. 6 th High School 1. Attention Juniors & Seniors. The following institutions and military branches will have representatives here to meet with you either in the media center or in Lab 70 during homeroom time: 11-12 - Army National Guard 11-29 - OSU Lima Stop by guidance to sign up or if you have any questions. 2. Reminder to students that have completed a fall sports season and want to take advantage of the PE Waiver. Forms can be picked up in the office or guidance office. Once your season is complete, get your coach to sign-off and then turn the form in to the office. 3. Attention Potential Bowling Team Members: Tryouts will be held at Southwest Bowl in Urbana on Tuesday November 6th from 6-8, and Thursday November 8th from 4-6. You must attend at least one of these tryouts to make the team. The top 8 boys and top 8 girls will make the bowling team by average scores from the tryouts. The first practice will be on November 13th from 4-6. 4. FCCLA is again sponsoring the annual dodgeball tournament. We have changed the date. It will be on Saturday, Nov. 17 th in the high school gym, starting at 4:00pm. 5. Speaking of dodgeball. There will be a county-wide dodgeball tournament held at Graham High School on Nov. 16 th. 6. Clark State Community College is hosting a special College Visit Day and Transfer Day on Nov. 8 th from 9:00am- 1:00pm. You can register at www.clarkstate.edu or get more information in the guidance office. 7. Due to conferences, the weight room will be closed after school this Thursday. 8. Quick Recall members need to see Mr. Lewis for paperwork purposes. The team will meet during homeroom today, November 6 th . Juniors and seniors get lunch then report to room 57. Freshmen and sophomores report to room 57 after checking in with homeroom teacher. There are still a few open spots remaining on the team so if you are interested see Mr. Lewis or show-up for the meeting today. First match is Nov 11th at Southeastern. 9. It is musical time – Audition packets for “Alice in Wonderland” are now available in the choir room. Please see Mrs. Beikert if interested in being part of the cast. Audition dates are Nov. 12 th and 13 th . 10. Let It Snow!! – Pick up your Mad River Mountain Ski Pass information from Mrs. Thornburg ASAP. 11. Any high school student who is interested in Mock Trial can sign-up in the office. The Introductory Meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 29 th in Mr. Thomas’s room after school. If you have any questions, ask Sawyer Shafer or Trevor Davis. 12. Attention All WLS Students – the first annual performance of the West Liberty-Salem Drama Club is taking place this week. Come out and watch “Archie and the Wallflower” on Thursday 11/8 at 7:00, Friday 11/9 at 7:00 and Saturday 11/10 at 2:00. Tickets are only $6 and can be purchased at the door. Please join us for this light-hearted comedy of errors with lots of little twists and turns. It will be a great way to spend the evening or a Saturday afternoon. 13. NHS will host a bake sale during homeroom this Wednesday. All NHS members, don’t forget to bring in your baked goods and please see Mrs. Roberts or Mrs. Smith if you can help. Baked goods and help are still needed in first homeroom. All NHS candidates, congratulations for being academically eligible. Remember that your completed application and essay are due to room 55 by this Thursday. Athletics 1. Congratulations to both of our high school cross country teams. Our boys finished 16 th at the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday and our girls finished in 6 th place at State. Also, congratulations to Meghan, Shawnda, Jasmine, Savanna, Jordan, Sarah, Aaron, Alex and David who finished their high school cross country careers on Saturday. What a great group of seniors. 2. The WL-S football team improved to 11-0 by defeating Dayton Christian in play-off action Saturday night by a score of 28-14. With the victory WL-S advances to the second round of the state play-offs and will play Coldwater at Piqua High School on Saturday at 7:00pm. Pre-sale tickets are available starting Tuesday at the school during normal business hours as well as at McCulla’s Sew and Vac in West Liberty and at Stocksdale Insurance in Urbana. Pre-sale tickets are $7 each and tickets at the gate are $9 each. Purchasing pre-sale tickets is encouraged as the school gets a percentage of those sales back.
