Working wi th the SDM

The Software Deployment Manager (SDM) is the standard tool that is used to install J2EE components onthe SAP J2EE Engine. The SDM is a client/server application. The SDM Server runs on the SAP J2EEEngine side. This server is started automatically with the J2EE Engine. A graphical user interface is availableas a client.

At a time only one user can log into the SDM.Multiple logon is not possible.

Once we logged into the system, we will get the below screen.

Select Next then Start Deployment.

A success message appears at the end of the deployment process. Choose Confirm to confirm thedeployment.

Once the deployment is over, the ESS and MSS Business Packages will be available in the Portal ContentDirectory (PCD).

sdmlogYYYYMMDD.log SDM log created by SDM Server

sdmguiYYYYMMDD.log GUI log created by SDM Server

sdmclYYYYMMDDHHMMSS.log Client session log. For example, deploymentwith SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.

jddilogYYYYMMDDHHMMSS.log Log of a JDDI deployment. The content of thislog is also included in sdmlog.

After configuring the ESS/MSS, we need to assign the ESS and MSS role to the user.

He will be able to access the ESS and MSS role.
