Bi-Cameral Legislature: Which means two houses

House of Reps: 25 years old: 435 Members

Senate: 30 years old: 100 Members

Made up of District, Federal, Appellate, and Supreme Courts.

Nine Members of the Supreme Court

They use Concurrent Jurisdiction to work together

Illinois and Its Constitution

Are the Handicapped protected in the Illinois Constitution? Yes, the new Constitution written in 1970 established this.

How many Articles does the Illinois Constitution have? 14 Constitutionalism: Principle of Government that says

Government is not above the law.

The General Assembly

Illinois House: 118 Members: 21 Years Old: Two year terms: Reside in the District for at least two years

Illinois Senate: 59 Members: Four year terms

Can override a Governor’s veto if they get 3/5ths of the all members to agree to do so

Governor Must be 25 years old

Can Veto laws: if he does not veto a law it can go into effect within 60 Calendar days.

4 year terms

Bills passed by The General Assembly must be presented to the Governor 30 Days after they pass the Bill
