1 PURPOSE

To ensure that hot-seat changeovers are conducted safely and correctly.

2 SCOPE

This work instruction applies to all Load and Haul operators and trainees at the Olympic Dam Mine.

Hot-seat procedures are different depending on the location utilised. Ensure you read and understand depending on the location you are changing out.

4 STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTION

4.1 Hot-seating – Crib Rooms

1. Hot-seaters notify current operators with a time for hot-seat changeover via the radio.

2. Hot-seater and current operator proceed to the designated hot-seat location.

54 Crib Room, 57 Crib Room, 65 Crib Room (Refer Section 4 Figures 1, 2 and 3).

3. Ensuring drive is free of pedestrians or LVs, operator pulls up to the designated hot-seating area in front of the bollard and shuts down.

Pedestrians must remain crib room side of bollards until truck shut down

Truck shall not enter within 30m if another heavy vehicle is being hot-seated

4. Operator hands the heavy vehicle over to the hot-seat operator.

Handover to be completed behind segregation bollardCurrent operator notifies the hot-seat operator of any relevant and important information that may affect operations.

5. Hot-seat operator checks heavy vehicle for critical controls and fill out and signs on to hot-seat and AFFF sections of pre-start (Refer Section 5).

6. New operator to call ODIM to inform they are hot-seating the truck

4.2 Hot-seating - Loader Operating Area

1. Hot-seaters and current operators agree on the time and location for the hot-seat changeover over the radio.

If only one hot seater/operator swapping out, follow section 3.4 ‘Hot seating in Mine Workings’.

2. Upon arrival at the loader operating signs, light vehicle establishes positive communication with the current loader operator over the radio on simplex or talk group.

Important!Current loader operator is the only one to direct traffic or allow new traffic into the area during a hot seat

3. Loader operator instructs all heavy vehicles to shut down.

4. Once all heavy vehicles are shut down, the loader operator will instruct the Light vehicle to come in and park just inside the loader lights

Important! No light vehicle shall enter the loader operator area until all heavy vehicles are shut down.

5. All heavy vehicle operators to walk to the hot-seating light vehicle for changeover

Current operator hands over to the hot-seat operator. Current operator notifies the hot seat operator of any relevant and important information that may affect operations.

6. Hot-seat operators check heavy vehicle critical controls and fill out and sign on to hot-seat and AFFF sections of pre-start (Refer Section 5).

ImportantThe vehicles will be at operating temperature.

7. Once all hot-seaters are inside the Heavy Vehicles, the operator in the light vehicle or taxi leaves and advises the hot-seat operator via radio on simplex talk group that they have left the area.

8. Only once confirmation has been received that the light vehicle or taxi has left the area and all operators are in the heavy vehicles, the loader operator advises that start-up of heavy vehicles and operations can commence.

9. Operators in Taxi/Light Vehicle to inform ODIM of new operator after leaving area

4.3 Hot-seating – In Mine Workings

1. Hot-seater and current operator agree on the time and location for the hot-seat changeover over the radio.

The preferred location for hot-seat changeovers is at a crib room area (Refer Section 4). .

2. Hot-seat operator in taxi and heavy vehicle operator proceed to arranged hot-seat location.

3. Hot-seater and Heavy Vehicle must be in line of site, and must not come within 30m until Heavy Vehicle is shut down and positive communication has been established

4. Hot-seat to begin Only once both vehicles are shut down and positive communication has been established

5. Current operator hands the heavy vehicle over to the hot-seat operator.

4.4 Hot-seating – Quarry Crib Room and NMA/SMA Offices

1. Hot seater to stand behind the bund wall to ensure Heavy Vehicle/Pedestrian interaction is controlled.

Important:

Heavy Vehicle Operator to ensure any pedestrians in the area are on the crib side of the bund walls.

2. Operator shuts down truck at the designated hot seating bays. Once the Heavy Vehicle is shut down, the operator will exit the cab and begin handover

Important:

Lights off indicates to other heavy vehicles in the area that the heavy vehicle is parked up and it is safe to pass.

3. Current operator hands the heavy vehicle over to the hot-seat operator behind the bollard/segregation bund.

Current operator notifies the hot-seat operator of any relevant and important information that may affect operations.

4. Hot-seat operator check heavy vehicle critical controls and fill out and sign on to hot-seat and AFFF sections of pre-start (Refer Section 5).

ImportantThe vehicles will be at operating temperature.

5. New operator to call up ODIM to inform

IF END OF SHIFT HOT-SEATING:

Current operator to call ODIM with shutdown hours, odometer and location. New operator will call in start-up hours and complete new daily pre-start inspection

6. Only once all pedestrians are safe and segregated from the Heavy Vehicle, the hot-seat operator starts up heavy vehicle and commences operation.
