6
In the first set of glasses the cold water sinks to the bottom of the
solution and mixes with the hot water to form a darkish solution where
neither the cold nor the hot water can be distinguished from each other.
7
In the second set of glasses the hot water will not sink and the cold water will not rise and therefore they stay distinct and separate, each clearly showing if they are hot or cold.
8
In his message to the Laodicean Church Jesus condemned them for
being lukewarm. Their witness was not clear. Some Christians thought that
they might be Christians. On the other hand, the heathen thought that they
might heathen.
9
While Jesus does not want us to be cold towards the claims of the gospel, he would rather have us to be cold
then lukewarm for at least two reasons:
10
A cold person can see their need of God better than a lukewarm person and is more likely to seek and find
God.
11
A person who is lukewarm feels that all is well and does not seek a deep
experience with God.
He/she says:“ I am rich, and increased with goods,
and have need of nothing.”(Revelation 3:17)
12
Jesus says that we need:“Gold tried in the fire, that thou
mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the
shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with
eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” (Revelation 3:18)
13
14
The gold is faith that works by love.
The white raiment is the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
The eyesalve is the spiritual discernment from having the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Let us heed the counsel of Jesus and have a clear experience that is deep
and fervent (hot) toward God and the things of God!
