A new year and things are
really moving forward in
a positive motion for the
NYSHPA. We held a by-
law committee meeting in
January and went over all
the NYS bylaws and have
come up with several
changes to discuss at the
state spring meeting to
hopefully better our or-
ganization.
We have also had several
communications and
meetings dealing with
bringing the World
Horseshoe Tournament
here to either Buffalo of
Hamburg. There is still a
lot of work to be done
and we are looking at a
possibility of a WHT bid
for either 2014 or 2015. If
we do get a bid put in and
it is accepted, we will be
needing a lot of help from
you...the horseshoe pitch-
er!! Keep this in mind for
the not too distant future.
Also, remember that Wa-
terloo will he hosting a
pro-tour horseshoe tour-
nament this upcoming
July 7-8. Try to come out
and pitch or just attend
and watch and support
their club.

ALL U CAN EAT BREAKFAST: To benefit the NYSHPA Junior Fund. On May 13, 2012 from 8:00am-11:00am,
Cost-$6.00/person Held at the Montour Falls Moose Club on Rte 14, Montour Falls, NY
A non-sanctioned doubles tournament will be held at 11:00 am. No entry fee-Raffles and 50/50’s
Mike Dimartino lost NHPA Member and good friend Clair Rigby who was his doubles partner and traveled with him to
seven world tournaments. Clair lived to be 90 yrs old. He was born on Thanksgiving day and passed on Christmas day.
The Forestville Flingers hosted their 4th annual Oven Mitt Tourney on January 29th. Seventeen pitchers played a double
elimination blind draw with oven mitts on, braving the winter weather. Nine of these pitchers from Canada. Tommy Gal-
lina of Guelph, Ontario won first beating out Pat McBratney of Ontario. 3rd and 4th were won by Lorretta Nadeau of On-
tario, and Bob Clark of Batavia, NY. It was a great weekend to get together with horseshoe friends and have some fun!!

2012 NYSHPA SPRING MEETING
Date: April 28, 2012
Place: Waterloo Sportsman Club
Time: 10.00 am
All clubs who would like to have an active voice in the NYSHPA, should send a delegate to
attend this annual spring meeting. Election of officers will be held at this time. We will also be
discussing and voting on several bylaw proposals. The state singles tournament and the state
doubles tournament host sites will also be chosen at this meeting. Following the meeting there
will be a lunch provided by the club for purchase. Following lunch, we will be holding a sanc-
tioned singles tournament. $5.00 of each entry fee will go towards a World Horseshoe Tourna-
ment fund. There will also be a buffet dinner for sale from the club. Dinner will be served start-
ing at approximately 5:00pm at a cost of $8.50/person
If interested in the tournament, fill out the following application and send it in by April 14.
The tournament should begin approximately 2:00pm
