or Ellen Sutton,
We look forward to seeing you
and welcoming you to the
EUFMC!
The EUFMC is known as a
leading educational event for
utility fleet professionals but
we are also known for offering
unique activities for attendees
and spouses. Please use this
newsletter to help you plan
and make the most of your
conference experience.
For those arriving early, on
Saturday evening John Sut-
ton, EUFMC’s most requested
tour guide, is leading a walk-
ing ghost tour by lantern
light. The tour will include
legends and tales from the
Colonial Williamsburg histor-
ic area. The tour departs from
the Williamsburg Lodge.
Monday is the day the
EUFMC devotes to equip-
ment. A drive-through
equipment demonstration
and afternoon show will
take place at the Colonial Wil-
liamsburg Visitor Center.
Spouses and families are wel-
come to attend the EUFMC’s
trademark in the fleet indus-
try.
Our dinner events include a
new meal format for Tuesday,
a buffet of regional specialties.
Your table will be directed to
a station to start and once you
have visited the first station,
attendees are encouraged to
try the food at the remaining
stations in the room.
Tuesday’s dinner speaker is
Bonnie St. John, Paralympic
athlete and author of How
Great Women Lead. You
won’t want to miss her inspir-
ing presentation.
Wednesday night we pay trib-
ute to the leadership of Gerald
and Sheila Owens and the
great state of Texas with
“Lone Star State.” Western
attire welcome.
As is our tradition, we offer
several programs specifically
for spouses and social guests
registered for the EUFMC:
The first event is the Sunday
Tea. Please note the tea be-
gins at a new time this
year: 3 PM. We will cele-
brate the Beatles with “All
You Need Is Tea.” Sunday
Tea includes the always popu-
lar door prizes and light re-
freshments.
Tuesday’s morning program is
a Tour of the Williamsburg
Winery. Attendees will tour
the winery, see the vines and
also tour the hotel. There will
be an opportunity to taste the
wines if you like. Luncheon
and transportation is provid-
ed. See inside for details.
New: On Wednesday after-
noon spouses are invited to
make a body scrub using the
all natural ingredients provid-
ed by the Spa of Colonial Wil-
liamsburg. Please register in
advance; attendees will be
given an arrival time.

the Monday 9 Hole Spouses
Golf Outing. Golf greens fees
& cart are provided. Begin-
ners are welcome. Register by

Williamsburg Winery Tour
Whether you are a seasoned wine enthusiast or simply someone seeking to learn more about wine and how it is produced, this special EUFMC
customized outdoor/indoor tour and tasting offers something for everyone. Learn the history of this winery now celebrating 25 years, view the
vines, hear how wines are made and if you prefer, sample some award winning beverages.
After an expanded tour and tasting, we will visit the adjacent property,
Wedmore Place, a European-style country hotel nestled into 300 acres
of green space. It
features 28 uniquely
designed rooms and
suites. Each room is
named and patterned after
a different province of
Europe and is decorated
with antiques and paintings
to reflect the culture and
history of that province. All rooms feature wood-burning fireplaces, 10’ ceilings and king size beds.
Lunch will be served in one of their special dining venues, Café Provencal. Transportation provided.

What to Wear? Attendees should prepare for humid weather with high temperatures. Sometimes the air-conditioned rooms in the conference center are chilly at the start of events to compensate for the high exterior temperatures and the large groups expected.
Casual dress is appropriate for EUFMC daytime activities. Comfortable shoes are essential as many outdoor walkways in Williamsburg are brick or gravel.
For EUFMC evening events on Sunday and Monday, the dress code for gentlemen is jackets preferred, ties optional. Tuesday evening dinner is business casual; no shorts or jeans, please. Wednesday night we are celebrating the great state of Texas, so boots and Western wear are encouraged!
For the Sunday Golf Tournament on the Golden Horseshoe, shirts are provided. The shirts can be picked up at the EUFMC conference regis-tration desk on Saturday or at the tournament Sunday morning. Thank you for wearing your shirt for the tourney. Spouses participating in the Monday Golf Outing will want to dress in comfortable golf attire. Golf shoes may be rented from the Pro Shop.

Colonial Williamsburg:

The dis-count card can-not be com-bined with cur-rent promotions or specials, including spe-cial listed above. Not valid on prior purchases.
To Help You Plan Your Visit
The EUFMC Name Badge: It’s Your Ticket! Why Badges? Badges are issued to those who have purchased a registration for the EUFMC.
Because we do not issue tickets for meals, wearing a name badge serves as your ad-
mission to functions sponsored by the EUFMC such as Sunday Tea and the Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday dinners.
What About Children? Attendees are encouraged to bring their families to Williamsburg however, children
cannot register as EUFMC attendees as you must be an adult to purchase a confer-
ence registration. Children are welcome on the Saturday evening activity and the Sun-
day Afternoon Walking Tour. Children may also accompany you to view the Monday
equipment events. Children do not attend events that require a name badge for admis-
sion including the Sunday Tea and evening banquet dinners. Since alcoholic beverages
are served, children should not attend privately sponsored hospitality events. Need a
babysitter? Colonial Williamsburg hotel guests can reserve a trained, reliable, bonded
sitter in advance by calling 757.229.1000.

Thank you for wearing your badges in plain sight so that we can identify you and recognize you as part of our EUFMC group.
Tuesday Program for EUFMC Retirees
EUFMC retirees are invited to join John Sutton for a tour of Lamberts Point Coal Terminal. Lamberts Point is a Norfolk Southern railroad coal-loading terminal located on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, Virginia. At the facility they load 48 million tons of coal annually aboard ships. The heart of the terminal is Pier 6, which has two shiploaders that permit the facility to load two vessels simultaneously. Safety glasses will be provided but tour participants will need to wear their own work boots. As always, transportation and lunch are provided. Want to go? Please email Ellen Sutton at [email protected].
What’s new in Williamsburg? In the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area the reconstruction of the James Anderson Blacksmith and Public Armoury is complete. The historic trades offer a fascinating view of artisans working with materials rarely seen. Visit the tin shop to see tin smiths at work. New at Busch Gardens: “London Rocks” a show that explores the roots of rock n’ roll. Like homemade donuts? Two new donut shops have opened: Emily’s Donuts on Merrimac Trail and Duck Donuts on Monticello Avenue. The Atlantic Ocean shore is 90 minutes away in Virginia Beach. Discounts from area merchants and attractions are available at the EUFMC registration desk when you arrive. In addition, here is a tip from the locals: visit www.save30radio.com (select Wil-liamsburg) for discounted gift certificates for local businesses.
