Foundation of Information Technology adheres strictly to the latest syllabus prescribed

by the CBSE. However, a little extra mileage has been added wherever deemed necessary.

Designed to provide inspired learning rather than rote learning, the book uses simple,

lucid language while laying greater emphasis on the practical aspects, without in any way

compromising on the theoretical aspects of the subject.

Developed and shaped by a vastly experienced teacher-author, the book offers an

optimal mix of theoretical and practical understanding of the subject, backed by relevant

examples, to enable students to approach their examinations with a high degree of

confidence.

Technology is better learnt by doing than by reading alone. Keeping this in view, the

book has been augmented with do-it-yourself examples / exercises at relevant places in

each chapter. This feature is expected to further enhance the working knowledge of the

students.

Though the book primarily caters to the knowledge and skill–based needs of Class X

students, it makes an ideal study material for anybody hankering for a painless 'A' level

exposure to the field of Information Technology.

While books can only supplement a teacher's efforts, this book nevertheless makes a

brave attempt to be self-instructional. It contains ample do-it-yourself sessions – aided by

ample use of screenshots – to help readers learn more effectively and purposefully.

Although utmost care has been taken to ensure that the facts and figures presented in

the book are correct, the author will immensely appreciate readers' efforts to identify the

areas of improvement; suggestions aimed at improving the book will be most welcome.

It is our sincere hope that the book will fulfil its purpose in helping students not only to

succeed with good grades, but also to so enjoy the study of IT as to motivate them to take up

higher studies in this vast and exciting domain, with all its immense future possibilities.
