INVITE SOMEONE BACK TO CHURCH!!

PLEASE PRAY for those in our Sister Parish in El Sal-vador, as they pray for us. The amber candle in our Vigil Candle area is lit as a reminder for us to pray for them.

DEAR PARISHIONERS:

I spent several days last week on retreat at St. Mary of the Woods College campus in Terre Haute, IN. This is operated by the Sisters of Divine Provi-dence. It is a beautiful place of quiet, reflection, prayer, & faith. You can feel the presence of the Lord in the walls, halls, & grounds. The Sisters were founded by St. Mother Theodore Guerin. She came here from France in the 1800’s & established St. Mary of the Woods. She met with fierce opposition to her cause, mostly from the sitting Bishop of Vincennes, IN at that time. But she persevered. And she began a community of con-fident, professional, & educated religious women. Thanks to her dedication & resolve so many have prof-ited from the college, the Sisters themselves, their retreat opportunities, & much more. The priest I met with several times talked about perse-verance. He related stories from his life that called for being a man, a priest of perseverance & not giving up. His relating inspired me & gave me pause. At times things don’t go right or the way I think they should go. What do I do with that? How do I react in those times? Do I just “throw in the towel?” Do I give up & not go on? Or, do I tough it out? Do I dig deep & ask the Lord to help me go on? I think it is important to reflect upon this in my life. Hopefully, you may find it helpful to do this, too. The Lord needs dedicated & determined fol-lowers to keep His message of love going in the world. He didn’t give up along the Way to Calvary. We need not give up along our daily faith journey. YOUR PASTOR, FATHER JOE

YEAR OF MERCY REFLECTION FOR June 11/12 Love and sin. These two seem an odd pairing, a doubtful duo. Yet love and sin are bound together in the Bible readings today. Great love leads to forgive-ness. And forgiveness leads to greater love. Look to King David who had a husband killed so he could take the wife. Look to the Apostle Paul who was drawn away from persecuting others by the love of the Son. Look to the unnamed weeping woman who bathed and anointed feet. Because of sorrow. Be-cause of forgiveness. Because of great love.

• Who has forgiven me? What happened next?

• Who needs my forgiveness?

• And how does my forgiveness mirror God’s for-

giveness – of me, of others, and of all?

THE CHOIR will sing on June 25th at the 4:30 p.m. Mass. There will not be a rehearsal on the 23rd.
