EVER THOUGHT OF BEING A PRIEST? God maybe calling you at this very moment to serve Him by being a priest for the Diocese of Springfield. Our Catholic Church needs more people to answer His call to priest-hood. If you may be interested, please call Fr. Joe at 423-6223.

INVITE SOMEONE BACK TO CHURCH!!

PLEASE PRAY for those in our Sister Parish in El Sal-vador, as they pray for us. The amber candle in our Vigil Candle area is lit as a reminder for us to pray for them.

DEAR PARISHIONERS: This week we celebrate Saints of our Early Church. On Monday we celebrate St. Cyril of Alexandria, Bishop & Doctor of the Church. St. Irenaeus, Bishop & Martyr of the Church, is who we honor on Tuesday. On Wednesday is the Solemnity of Ss. Peter & Paul, two of the greatest Saints of the early decades following the Resurrection of the Lord. And on Thursday we celebrate the 1st Martyrs of the Church of Rome In these celebrations we recall some of the outstanding figures of the first decades & centuries of our Church. We recall how they gave of themselves so that the Chris-tian faith could be heard & experienced by many, many peoples. They gave their very lives in defense of the faith, willing to die rather than renounce their belief in the Lord. How much we owe to all of them. They are our he-roes. They are our role models. They are our inspiration. When we talk about the Communion of Saints, these Saints we celebrate this week are some of those we can unite ourselves with as we journey in faith. How is our faith this summer week? Is it strong & courageous? Is it something we are proud to share & dare to witness to others? What if ridicule comes our way due to our faith? Are we still strong in our beliefs? How do we carry out today the faith of those early Church men & women who were martyred & have been upheld as Saints? We are called upon to continue in their faith tradition. In our world today we need role models, SPIRITUAL HEROES. How about us being those faith heroes & role models for our families, our parish, our Catholic Church, our Lord Jesus Christ? Have a week of meditation upon the early Church’s Saints & Martyrs. Our Church survived due to their wit-ness to the Catholic faith. Our Church will survive for generations to come due to our witness to our faith. YOUR PASTOR, FATHER JOE

YEAR OF MERCY CONFESSIONS Mon., June 27th, 8:30-9:30 am Thurs., June 30th, 6:00-7:00 pm

YEAR OF MERCY REFLECTION FOR June 25/26

Called for freedom. No yoke of slavery for us. Even though people are shackeled, suppressed, oppressed – and even though I may be, too – we are, I am called for free-dom. Christ, in his Paschal Mystery, his death and rising, has set us free. Baptism makes us new and sets us free. The old and the new law – “love your neighbor as yourself” – set us free. Singing the song for the gathering of the gifts during the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper this past (and every) Holy Thursday – Ubi Caritas – sets us free.

• What yoke will I step out of to be free?

• Who can I help into freedom in this Mercy Year?

• Who will I love … as myself?
