End Time PressuresOne of the greatest pressures in the End Times will come from false teachers within the Church.

II Peter 2 and Jude

Page 3: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Jude 4For certain men (false teachers) have crept in unnoticed…ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny…our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 4)

Page 4: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Grace gives us confidence…Grace gives us confidence that God enjoys us (after we stumble and repent) and empowers us to be wholehearted, rather than making us comfortable in compromise and passivity.

Page 5: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Tear your heart!Spiritual violence – TEARING YOUR HEART!Matt 5:29-30: So if your eye – even if it is your

good eye – causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your hand – even if it is your stronger hand – causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away…..

Page 6: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Jesus is KINGJesus OWNS you- He owns your heart, body, time, money and destiny!

We do not have the right to do what we want – we are slaves to Jesus.

Page 7: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

You are ownedI Cor. 6:18-20: Flee sexual immorality…

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you..and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your sprit, which are God’s.

Page 8: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

You are in a Kingdom with a KINGHe calls you to obedience – He is

the King. The power of true grace is only

experienced in consistently pursuing 100 fold obedience.

Page 9: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Powerful dynamicsPursuit of 100 fold obedience – different than attainment.

98% pursuit of obedience has a limited blessing on it. The last 2% is what positions us for a vibrant heart!

Page 10: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

PositioningIn God’s economy there are certain things that God requires of us.

Positioning our hearts before His fire is one of them.

Page 11: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Division of Labor in GraceLaw = WorkGrace some think = No workActually: Grace = WorkThe motivation for the work is very different between Law and Grace.

Page 12: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

MotivationSalvation is free!Righteousness is free. All that is required of us is that we drag our cold hearts before His fire:

Repentance, tearing our hearts, fasting, etc.

Page 13: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Jesus calls us to STRIVE!YIKES – not THAT!! – STRIVE? Exert

Effort?Mt. 7:13-14: Enter by the narrow

gate…14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life (experience God in our inner man), and there are few who find it.

Page 14: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Strive – really?Luke 13: 23-24: “Lord, are there few who are saved?: and He said to them, 24 Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

Page 15: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Paul exerted effortActs 24:16: I always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and man.

Page 16: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

When do we strive and When do we not?Be careful to get this wrong is to walk in legalism!

We do not strive to earn God’s love (acceptance, affection or forgiveness)

Page 17: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

We DO strive…To live in holiness!Breakthrough in the heart so we might enjoy what He enjoys.

Page 18: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

We do strive…We strive or exert great effort to bring everything, EVERYTHING, in our lives into conformity with what pleases Jesus!

And to hold our cold hearts before God’s bonfire so as to receive freely from His fire at the heart level.

Page 19: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Cooperation with God’s graceGod will not do our part and we cannot do

His part! Our part: includes making quality decisions

to deny ourselves (say no to sin), to feed our spirit on the Word, to ask for God’s help through prayer with fasting, and to embrace Godly activities (serving) and relationships (fellowship, confessing our sins), etc.

Page 20: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

God’s part!Remember we CANNOT do His part:His part is to release supernatural

influences on our heart (power, wisdom, desires) on our body (healing) and on our circumstances (provision, protection, direction) and relationships (favor).

Page 21: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Rightly relating to GodLegalism: our confidence is based

on our attainment of maturity. We relate to God on the basis of

HIS burning desire and heart for us!

Page 22: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Relating to GodIf we relate to God on the basis of

how well we have done in the past, then if we do well, we are proud, but if we do badly, we are condemned. This is NOT how God wants us to relate to Him.

Page 23: Holiness/The Narrow Gate

Awake - AriseMake a decision to: “Tear your hearts!”

To pursue Holiness at the cost – the cost is much!

Press into HIM with all diligence.
