New Newsletter Deadline!
15th of Every Month
Beginning this month, we will move our newsletter deadline
to the 15th of each month. This will enable us to publish,
print and distribute newsletters on the last Sunday of each
month for the upcoming month . Please submit your January
2017 articles by December 15, 2016. Thanks!
From Your Sunday School Director
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS! We are celebrating YOU and what YOU have done for us. I don’t know what
I would do without His Love and forgiveness. I certainly don’t deserve it. I pray that we will all re-
member how precious God’s Gift to us is and live our lives daily in a way that shows it.
We are going to have some exciting things happening in Sunday School this year. Teachers and assis-
tants have had their first meeting and it was well attended. Will let you all know when our next one is.
I want everyone to know and remember that we save and recycle all of our literature. I have Mr. Bob
Cook coming again before Christmas to pick up everything we have. If you have any books, Bibles, leaf-
lets or anything please bring to the SS office by December 11th. Mr. Cook is 82 years old and this is his
ministry. He picks up all Biblical literature and delivers it to Edwin L. Hodges Ministries in Decatur, Al.
He makes a trip about once a month over there. From there it is shipped all over the world where it
can be used. They appreciate all donations.
We also recycle paper in the SS office. There is a box for it. Any flyers or print outs you no longer need
would be appreciated. Please don’t throw it away.
Al and I would like to wish each and every one of you a Beautiful and Blessed Christmas and a Wonder-
ful and productive New Year. Let’s make a promise to
each other to spend more time in prayer and sharing
the Love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Special Ministries
Operation Christmas Child Shoebox MINISTRY
Thank you, Lisbon folks! During the recent collection period, we packed 315 shoeboxes!
Each shoebox you donated creates a witnessing opportunity when it is placed in the hand
of the children around the world! Of special note, your generous cash donations made it
possible for our children to go shopping, pack and pay postage for 84 of those shoe-
boxes! Also, sincere thanks to our W.O.M. group who packed 52 of those shoeboxes!
Coming up in December—Cold Weather Clothing Collection
Cold weather clothing is in need for the Rushton’s Hope Center to distribute to the home-
less and truly needy folks in and around the Griffin area. REMEMBER! Instead of throwing
away your “no longer needed” clothes, jackets, stocking caps, shoes, socks, gloves and
ear muffs, make sure they are clean and not worn or torn. Bag them up and place them in
the specially marked container in the Welcome Center during the collection period. It will
not only give you a warm feeling for helping others, it will also give the needy the ability to
stay warm during the bitter winter weather.
Remember, Collection Period is December 11th – January 8th

Upcoming Children’s Department Events
December 3 – Friendship Brownie Jars – Join us Saturday in the Fellowship Hall from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. as we work to pack jars with most of the ingredients needed to make delicious brownies. These jars will be sold on Sunday right after church with proceeds going toward our goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. Bring an apron, we will put on a little Christmas music, snack a little, and have a jolly good time as we serve HIM!
December 4 – Selling “Friendship Brownie Jars” – The Children’s Department will be selling “Friendship Brownie Jars” in the Welcome Center after the Morning Worship Service. Proceeds will be given to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offer-ing for International Missions. If you have a few friends that you need to purchase the perfect give for, these might be exactly what you need? And…what better way to spend that money???
December 18 – Children’s Christmas Party –Happy Birthday, Jesus! Party during the Sunday School hour from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
