My Creative ProcessWhile my ideas often come together organically, the creation of a new Vosges Haut-Chocolat chocolate collection is never without meaning. The pages of this catalog are layered with my creative process. Tear sheets, visual cues, notes, sketches and photographs represent my initial spark. Specific, artisanal ingredients are sourced to tell my story and create the final chocolate collections I share with you.

step 1 fall in loveMy first step, and the origin of everything thereafter, is the act of falling in love with either beauty, curiosity or cause. This may be as simple as my first encounter with the wattleseed (via wattleseed-encrusted kangaroo!), a food staple of the Aboriginal culture, or as complex as the beauty of Antoní Gaudí’s cathedral, La Sagrada Família.

step 2 inspirationThe act of falling in love inevitably transports me to the next step, inspiration— connecting with the story behind this newfound love. With this inspiration comes a vision, and if I listen carefully, I will hear the vision loud and clear and will translate it, using chocolate as my medium for storytelling. My chocolate tells stories, stories offer creative ways of fueling new ideas, and ideas can be contagious.

step 3 actionThe action is not just dreaming and leaving the ideas in the clouds but actually DOING something to physically create the idea. It is the pivotal moment …

step 4 experienceFinally, there is the experience. The inspiration, ingredients and story create the final experiential interaction of each product with YOU, the consumer. The embarkation upon your personal sensory journey: the loosening of ribbon and the lifting of boxes, the dissemination of a message, the interpretation of new flavors and the connection with your senses– this is the Vosges Haut-Chocolat experience.
