Last summer, supporters raised over £26,000 for St Peter’s Hospice by partying

summer days and nights away with family and friends.

Whether you decide to host a garden gathering, BBQ, afternoon tea party or a

picnic in the park, the money your Summer Party raises will help us to continue

to look after local people with life-limiting illnesses who desperately need our

care.

Extra ways to raise moneyEvery single penny helpsHold a raffle or an auction, charge extra for teas and coffees, have a craft or a book stall.

Set up an online fundraising page so friends and family who can’t make it can still donate. The most popular and easiest to use are justgiving.com or virginmoneygiving.com

Put a donation box by your front door so people make a donation when they arrive and as they leave. Please don’t forget to get them to Gift Aid their donation – we have enclosed a form – donations can be worth 25% more without costing the donor a penny.

Ask your employer about Matched Giving. Some companies will match donations their employees raise for charities.

avocado ice cream

Ingredients2 vanilla pods 1 lime 200g sugar 4 ripe avocados 1 lemon 500ml whole milk

What to do Halve the vanilla pods lengthways, scrape out the seeds, then add to a saucepan with the pods. Add the sugar and the zest and juice from your lemon and lime. Bring to the boil, simmer for a couple of minutes until all the sugar dissolves. Take off the heat, pour into a bowl and leave to cool. Once the syrup is cool, remove the vanilla pods. Peel, destone and scoop the avocado flesh into a liquidiser with the syrup and milk. Blitz to a smooth, light consistency – like a smoothie. If you’ve got an ice-cream maker, put your mixture into it and churn till smooth and frozen. If not, pour it into a large baking dish or deep tray and pop it in the freezer, giving it a whisk every half hour or so until frozen and smooth.
