Twenty years experience in the hotel and real estate sectors: For eleven years Jonathan supported the expansion of Marriott International’s(MI) fifteen brands across EMEA in the role of Vice President Development Planning. He delivered the company’s first evercomprehensive development strategy, across 55 countries, for the African continent.

He has been engaged on major acquisitions, renovations, extensions, re-brandings, contract extensions and terminations, and created strategic road maps for both countries and cities across EMEA.

JonathanisresponsibleforthedevelopmentofthefirsteverHotelAsset Management and Hotel Development education course at École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) andGlion Institute of Higher Education (Glion) andis also a guest lecturer at a number of world-class hotel schools. Katharine has spent two decades as a professional advisor to the travel, hospitality and leisure industries. She works all over the world in emerging and mature markets, helping clients to assess opportunities for value creation. She loves what she does and has a particular specialism in: development strategy; destination resorts; luxury and lifestyle brands; andthemeparks. 

Katharine began her career with Jones Lang LaSalle in China, during China’sfirst realestateboom.Prior to joiningHoCoSosheworked forglobal professional services firms Arthur Andersen and Deloitte inEurope and Asia, Katharine is a regular speaker at industry events, a writer on industry issues and has been a professional advisor on the World Economic Forum Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report. Irene has over 17 years of experience in thehotel industry across Europe. She is a senior hotel development executive with experience in hospitality consulting, hotel asset manage- ment and hotel development.

She has run her own company in recent years, directed European expansion for Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, asset managed a large UK hotel portfolio on behalf of a large UK Bank forVisionAssetManagementandworkedonhundreds of market demand and feasibility studies for hotels and mixed-use projects for PKF London.

Lana graduated from the École hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland and has over seven years of experience in the international hospitality sector. Her most recent role was as a Hotel Analyst in Jones Lang LaSalle’s Hotel & Hospitality Group in London.

Prior to this she worked as a Development Feasibility Analyst at Marriott Internationalin Zurich. Her experience includes market feasibility studies across EMEA and hotel valuation.

Lana speaks Mandarin Chinese, English and French.

Kilian is a hospitality enthusiast. He began hiscareer inoperationswiththePanPacificHotels Group in Canada, before moving to Europe and joining the Ritz Carlton Arts Hotel in Barcelona. Drawing on these experiences,hewentontostudyInternationalHospitality Management at the Hotelschool The Hague in Amsterdam before joining HoCoSo.

Kilian specializes in product and concept development projects, executes research analyses and supports the execution of HoCoSo’s media and communication strategy. He speaks German, English and Spanish.

Rhéa studied Marketing and Advertising in Lebanon and specializes in Marketing and Communications. She has worked with one of Switzerland’s top hospitality schools, Ecole hôtelièredeLausanneandhasoverfiveyearsof experience with Lebanon’s leading winery, Château Kefraya.She leads HoCoSo’s communication strategy, ensuring that the bright ideas, innovations and expertise of the company’s consultants are communicated effectively through publications, education, digital marketing, social media, media outreach, conferences and events.

Johannes is an accomplished qualitative market researcher, specializing in brand positioning, communication strategy, creative copy and product concept development. He has over 15 years of experience in coordinating national and global research projects; B2C, B2B and across a range of sectors. Typically, Johannes fulfils a creative collaboration role,helping to identify the most exciting and original path, from creative brief to great execution.

Ruoshi studies International Hospitality Management at Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne.As the president of The Finance Club, she organized multiple internal and external events for EHL students. Her operational internships were undertaken at HSBC, Hangzhou, China and The Ritz Carlton, Tokyo.

Ruoshi joined HoCoSo as a Hotel Analyst Internduringher studies andhas remainedwith the business. She has worked on asset managementprojects andhelped todefineand formalise internal work processes.

Glion Institute of Higher Education

■ Glionisoneoftheworld’sfinestSwisshospitalitymanagementschools. Founded in 1962, it has been at the forefront of Swiss hospitality business degrees for decades.

■ Jonathan Humphries has been appointed as Head of Specializations to deliver Glion’s new Hotel Development and Hotel Asset Management programs, launched in 2018. Katharine Le Quesne is Head of Destination Resorts, also a new specialization at the school.

■ For the past two years Jonathan Humphries was a Senior Lecturer for Hotel Asset Management, Hotel Planning and Development at EHL, and was charged with creating and delivering new industry focused courses. ■ BHI, established in May 2008, offers a four-year Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management program of study, with the academic certificationof Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL).

■ Jonathan Humphries delivered a tailor-made course on hotel asset management and development to 90 final year bachelor students at theBeijingHospitalityInstitute(BHI)in2017.

 

University of Zurich (UZH)

■ Jonathan Humphries is a repeat guest lecturer at the University of Zurich andCUREMandlectureson“HotelInvestment&MarketDueDiligence”.

■ The University of Zurich and CUREM (Centre for Urban & Real Estate Management) offer a RICS-accredited real estate masters program. CUREM was founded in 2004 by real estate professionals and is completely focused on the real estate industry, aiming to contribute towards its professionalization.
