Our approach is highly participatory and we develop client specifi c goals and objectives through a process that includes workplace strategy, space and adjacency planning, furniture consultancy, design and procurement.

Through strategic briefi ng and engagement sessions
HKS work with our clients to unlock the potential for
improved space utilisation.
This is often a pivotal moment in the evolution of a
project, for a client to discover through design what
the aspirations are for the working culture and for
the work/life balance. A move towards collaborative
working, mobile working, teaming and social
networking environments may be benefi cial in this
regard but can also drive down space requirements
and contribute to greater cost and operational
effi ciencies.
Our participation and engagement can take many
forms from the analysis of consolidation strategies
across an estate, through to renewal and remodelling
opportunities brought about by a lease event or sale.

Many corporate occupiers are consolidating their estates to realise greater effi ciencies and value from their existing premises or looking to relocate to reduce occupied space. Technology and the changing nature of the workplace mean that buildings can now be used in more effi cient ways with denser planning and incorporating a variety of workplace settings.
HKS is well placed to assist in this process. Our specialist design skills can inform strategic
decisions and support the seamless and time effi cient transition from strategy to design.
We work with our clients to test the viability and potential of their existing or future buildings against a robust workplace strategy and new working practices.
Base build audits, building use studies and detailed space planning exercises help determine effi cient workplace densities and optimum adjacency criteria.
