HiPath SimplyPhone for Outlook/Lotus Notes V4.0 provides desktop telephony and call management functionality integrated with Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes.HiPath SimplyPhone users can click-and-dial from global or personal address books or LDAP-compatible databases. Telephone calls can also be initiated by a click of the mouse from the in or sent boxes, calendar, and journal or task folders. Client Matter Codes can be assigned to calls in order to simplify subsequent billing.The main functions of HiPath SimplyPhone for Outlook/Lotus Notes V4.0 are also avail-able as CTI extensions within HiPath Xpres-sions V4.0.

Configuration overview

Both the Outlook and the Lotus Notes ver-sions of HiPath SimplyPhone use the Mi-crosoft TAPI interface and support first-par-ty and third-party connections.A first-party connection involves physical control of the telephony device. There is no need for a special CTI server. A first-party connection, however, can control only a single TAPI line. By contrast, a third-party connection always involves a CTI server, ca-pable of controlling several TAPI lines.
