In Object Grading Enhancements

In Object Grading has been improved to make it more user friendly. To begin, open an object with Score enabled.

On the right, I will see a roster view of the students in the course.

From here, you can click on any name in the roster to add a score, a comment, or both.

To add a score, slide the score bar to the right to add points. You may also click inside the number circle to enter a score from your keyboard.

To add a comment, simply type your comment into the Comments box. When you are finished, you may click Publish This Student to publish only this student’s score/comment, or, you may wait and publish scores and comments for all students.

To move quickly between students, click the arrows to scroll to the next student in the roster. You may move either direction; up or down the roster this way. You may also click the X to close this student’s box and open another.

If you wish, you may choose to publish all scores and comments for all students from the roster view. To do this, close the student window to return to the roster view. You will now see the student scores next to the student’s name, along with a Publish Grades button, which tells you how many scores/changes you can publish in bulk. To publish all changes, click Publish Grades. Publishing scores and/or comments from the object will automatically sync with the GradeGrid.

You may also filter the roster by score; highest to lowest, lowest to highest or alphabetically. Click the appropriate button to view the filtered results.

Drag and Drop Improvements

Drag and Drop has been enhanced for use on mobile devices such as iPads and Android tablets. For example, instructors can now add a Class Communication from a mobile device. Students and faculty will enjoy a smoother, more satisfactory experience when using mobile devices with BlueQuill.

Editing a Running Section of a Course

Editing a running section is a feature available on an institutional level. Certain instances of BlueQuill which utilize a decentralized curriculum model are able to utilize this feature, which must be enabled on a per-course basis at the time of course creation.

When enabled, this feature will allow a running course to be edited by an instructor. Once the course has been published and deployed, the instructor will see the Edit Course button in the upper right corner of the course.

Click Edit Course to go into the edit mode. You are now able to add containers, add objects, delete containers, delete objects and edit the content and tools of existing Learning Objects. This mode is similar to the Design mode except that changes are made to the running course.

To add objects or containers, drag the new item from the right side of the course page and drop it onto the course page where you want it.

By dragging objects/containers to the right, a trash can will appear. Drop the object/container over the trash can to remove it from the course.

You will have to confirm that you want to delete the item by clicking Delete Item.

Changes made in edit mode only affect the running course section being edited. Changes made by an instructor will not be saved in the design copy of the course.

New objects added to the course will appear light grey and have the word Draft in the upper right corner. An object will be in draft mode until it is published to students. If you are not ready to publish your changes, you may also save the object as a draft by clicking Save Draft.

Once the item is published, it will be visible to students. If the Score tool is enabled and points are assigned to the object, the object will appear in the GradeGrid as well.

When you are finished making changes in the course, click Close Edit Mode to be returned to the regular course view.
