In his cable, his Highnessthe Amir lauded the successof the Hajj pilgrimage thisyear.

His Highness Sheikh Sabahalso expressed gratitude for KingSalman and his government’sstrenuous efforts in addressingthe needs of Hajj pilgrims, wish-ing persistent prosperity for theKingdom of Saudi Arabia and itspeople.

Amir’s rep arrives in New York for UNGA meetingsNEW YORK, Sept 27, (KUNA):Representative of His Highness theAmir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness thePrime Minister Sheikh Jaber MubarakAl-Hamad Al-Sabah arrived in NewYork to head Kuwait’s delegation tothe 70th UN General Assembly(UNGA) session.

His Highness the Prime Minister, ina statement shortly after his arrival,said UNGA meetings were heldamidst many developments taking

place around the globe.The UN is shouldering big responsi-

bility vis-a-vis uncertainties and ter-rorist acts threatening security and sta-bility in the Middle East region, hesaid.

His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak called on the internationalcommunity to live up to its “historicresponsibility” to preserve internation-al peace, security and stability, as wellas stepping up the fight against terror-ism.

“Kuwait is keen on continuing itssupport to the UN so it can play anactive role in helping many countriesovercome crises and providing decentlife for their people,” he added.

He said Kuwait actively contributedto UN efforts to addressing interna-tional disasters and crises, as well ashelping development in many coun-tries.

His Highness the Prime Ministerpraised anew the UN’s honoring of HisHighness the Amir as “Humanitarian

Leader,” and Kuwait as“Humanitarian Center”.

AP chief lauds Saudi King’s Hajj safety reviewCAIRO, Sept 27, (KUNA): ArabParliament’s (AP) PresidentAhmad Al-Jarwan on Saturdaycommended Saudi Arabia’s KingSalman Bin Abdulaziz’s orders ofa safety review aimed at facilitat-ing the rituals of Hajj for pilgrims,in the wake of this year’s deadlystampede.

In a statement, Al-Jarwan saidKing Salman’s “prudence” will

prevent the occurrence of suchtragic incidents again.

Moreover, the ArabParliament’s President reaffirmedthat the Arab nation stands by theKingdom of Saudi Arabia andsupports its vigorous efforts inholding the annual Hajj pilgrim-age.

Al-Jarwan also extended hisdeepest condolences for the

huge loss of life and wished aswift recovery for those injured inthe stampede.

On Thursday, a stampede inMina, on the outskirts of the holycity of Mecca, killed at least 769pilgrims and injured 934 others.It is the deadliest incident tooccur in the Hajj since the 1990stampede, which killed 1,426people.

The Saudi King’s receptionhad a positive impact on thehearts of all those who attend-ed the meeting, Minister Al-Sanea told KUNA in a state-ment.

He added that Saudi authori-ties always do their best tooffer many services to pilgrimsonce they arrive in the holyland.

Minister Al-Sanea also praisedthe Kuwaiti Hajj mission’sefforts in serving the Kuwaiti pil-grims and checking on Kuwaitipilgrims after the recent Minastampede that killed and injuredseveral.

He wished all Kuwaiti pil-

grims and Hajj mission a safereturn to the homeland.

Meanwhile, head of Kuwait’shajj mission has expressedgratitude to the Saudi KingSalman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saudfor the reception he held at theRoyal Court in Mina Palace inhonor of leaders of Muslimcountries who currently per-form hajj and all heads of hajjmissions.

This generous invitationreiterates the Kingdom’s keen-ness in uniting Arabs andMuslims and boosting tiesamong Muslim people,Kholaif Al-Othaina, head ofthe Kuwaiti Hajj mission, stat-

ed to KUNA.King Salman’s annual recep-

tion is a big opportunity forheads of Arab and non-Arab hajjmissions to consult andexchange expertise among eachother in order to provide betterservices for pilgrims, Al-Othaina said.

He also further commendedthe elaborate efforts exerted bythe Saudi King’s governmentduring current hajj season, not-ing that it showed theKingdom’s ability in organizingpilgrimage and facilitating pil-grims’ moving between holysites.

Warm welcome to Hajj pilgrim returneesA large number of people warmly wel-comed their relatives, who performed Hajj,at Kuwait International Airport with bou-quets of flowers and chants.

The airport had a total of 16 arrival flightsfrom Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday with4,240 pilgrims on board.

The administration of the airport andits security systems fully prepared forthe arrival of the pilgrims in the last twodays.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation(DGCA) Director Yousef Al-Fawzan con-firmed the successful implementation of

the plan for welcoming the pilgrims. He disclosed Kuwait Airways

Corporation (KAC) had nine extra flights forthe pilgrims; in addition to two regularflights, three Saudi Airline flights and twoby NAS airlines.

On the other hand, Director of AirportSecurity Department Major General FaisalAl-Seneen said the concerned authoritiesat the Interior Ministry and DGCA eased allprocedures for the pilgrims.

He confirmed that Minister of InteriorSheikh Mohammed Al-Khalid personallyfollowed up the procedures.
