SUNRUN CONTRIBUTIONS

If you enroll in the CDHP Option 1, Sunrun will contribute $600 for employee-only coverage and $1,200 for family coverage annually. Note: Sunrun contribution amounts will be prorated per paycheck for all employees.

How the Consumer Directed Health Plans (CDHPs) WorkThe Cigna CDHP Option 1 and CDHP Option 2 offer comprehensive healthcare coverage at lower premiums and higher deductibles than traditional healthcare plans. With lower premiums to pay for coverage, you choose how to spend your healthcare dollars. You can either pay for eligible services by using funds in your HSA, or you can pay for them out of your own pocket. Note: You can only use HSA funds as they are deposited in your account. You can always reimburse yourself later once you have accumulated funds in your account.

Financial

Health Savings Accounts (HSAs): HSA BankBoth CDHPs feature a health savings account (HSA) that enables you to pay for current, qualified healthcare expenses and save for future expenses on a tax-free basis. You have the opportunity to set aside funds in your HSA before taxes through convenient payroll deductions (see “How Your HSA Is Funded”).

How Your HSA Is FundedYOUR CONTRIBUTIONSThere are several ways to contribute money to your HSA:• Pre-tax contributions through payroll deductions• After-tax cash contributions that are deductible when you

file your taxes• Catch-up contributions up to $1,000 per year if you are

over age 55 (until you enroll in Medicare)

TOTAL ANNUAL CONTRIBUTION LIMITIt is important to note that your contributions, when combined with any contributions from the company, may not exceed the IRS annual maximum of $3,400 for individual coverage and $6,750 for family coverage in 2017. Note: Individuals 55 and older may make additional “catch-up” contributions up to $1,000 each year until they enroll in Medicare.

Qualified Healthcare ExpensesHSAs enable you to pay for the following qualified healthcare expenses on a tax-free basis:• Qualified medical, dental and vision expenses not covered by

the plans, as defined by the IRS in Publication 502, available online at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p502.pdf

• COBRA premiums• Qualified long-term care insurance and expenses• Health insurance premiums when receiving unemployment

compensation• Medicare and retiree health insurance premiums (not Medicare

Supplement premiums)• Medigap insurance premiums

HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS (HSAs) CONTINUED

Advantages of an HSA

Financial

Triple-Tax Advantage• You contribute pre-tax funds through

payroll deductions, meaning the money comes out of your paycheck before federal income tax is calculated. This, in turn, reduces the amount of taxable income, so less tax is withheld from your paycheck.

• Funds grow tax-free, and unused funds roll over year to year.

• You can withdraw funds tax-free to pay for qualified healthcare expenses now and in the future—even in retirement.

ControlYou own and control the money in your HSA. You decide how or if you want to spend it. You can use it to pay for doctor’s visits, prescriptions, braces, glasses—even laser vision correction surgery.

Investment OpportunitiesOnce you reach and maintain a minimum threshold, you can make investments to help your money grow tax-free.

Savings PotentialThere is no “use it or lose it” rule. Your account grows over time as you continue to roll over unused dollars from year to year.

PortabilityYour HSA is yours for life. The money is yours to spend or save, regardless of whether you change health plans,* retire or leave the company.

*You must be enrolled in a qualified high-deductible health plan to contribute to an HSA.

Flexible Spending Program: Discovery BenefitsFlexible spending accounts (FSAs) allow you to pay for eligible health and/or dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis, meaning your FSA contributions are deducted from your pay before your federal and Social Security taxes are calculated. The result is that your taxable income is reduced and you get to keep a greater portion of your paycheck.

Commuter Benefit Account: Discovery BenefitsYou can also use pre-tax dollars to pay for parking and transit expenses and can enroll in the program at any point during the year.

MORE ON FSAs

• You are required to enroll in the FSA each year to participate.

• The IRS requires that any unused funds you have set aside for eligible expenses that are still in your account on March 15, 2018 be claimed by submitting your eligible expenses no later than March 31, 2018. All claims submitted must be from claims incurred before March 15, 2018. Any unused funds will be forfeited.

Sunrun 401(k) Plan: Empower Retirement To help you save for the retirement of your dreams, we offer the Sunrun 401(k) Plan. The Sunrun 401(k) Plan helps you save for retirement on a tax-deferred basis. Full-time employees hired on or after July 1 are automatically enrolled in the plan at a four percent contribution rate on the first of the month following 60 days of service. To change your contribution level or opt out of the Sunrun 401(k) Plan, log into https://participant.empower-retirement.com. Your contributions are made via convenient, pre-tax payroll deductions, and your funds are tax-deferred until you withdraw them in retirement. There are several important advantages to the Sunrun 401(k) Plan: • Rollover assistance: You may roll over funds from a pre-existing 401(k) to the Sunrun 401(k) Plan. Contact your former employer’s

401(k) plan administrator to determine the proper rollover process.• Deferred taxes: Contributions are made before you pay income taxes. Taxes are deferred on your savings and any earnings until

you begin making withdrawals.• Compounded growth potential: Earnings on your savings are automatically invested, where they will continue to grow. As many

retirement savers have discovered, the effects of long-term compounding can be remarkable.• Investment choices: A variety of investment options are available, ranging from conservative to aggressive, so you can choose the

investments that best match your goals and time frame.

We also offer a Roth 401(k) option if you wish to make after-tax contributions now and not pay taxes on your account once you withdraw funds in retirement.

MENTAL HEALTH PARITY ACT

Per the Mental Health Parity Act, benefits for mental health and substance-use disorder must be treated like benefits for regular medical and surgical care. For example, if there is no limitation on the number of days for inpatient and number of visits for outpatient medical care, then there can be no limitation for mental health and substance-use disorder treatments. As always, treatments must be medically necessary to qualify for coverage. Plan participants should review their plan’s certificate of coverage or benefit document for specific information about coverage, limitations and exclusions for mental healthcare and substance-use disorder treatments.

WOMEN’S HEALTH AND CANCER RIGHTS ACT

On January 1, 1999, a federal law, the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998, became effective, which affects our Sunrun plan options. This law requires group health plans that provide coverage for mastectomies (ours does) and to also provide coverage for reconstructive surgery and prostheses following mastectomies. As required under the law, we have included this notice to inform you about it.

The law mandates that a participant or eligible beneficiary who is receiving benefits, on or after the law’s effective date (January 1, 1999, for our Plan), for a covered mastectomy and who elects breast reconstruction in connection with the mastectomy, will also receive coverage for:• All stages of reconstruction of the breast on which the

mastectomy has been performed;

• Surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to produce a symmetrical appearance; and

• Prostheses and treatment of physical complications of all stages of mastectomy, including lymphedemas.

This coverage will be provided in consultation with the patient and the patient’s attending physician and will be subject to the same annual deductible, coinsurance and/or copayment provisions otherwise applicable under the Plan.

If you have any questions about coverage for mastectomies and post-operative reconstructive surgery, contact [email protected].

SUMMARIES OF BENEFITS AND COVERAGE (SBCS) As an employee, the health benefits available to you represent a significant component of your compensation package. They also provide important protection for you and your family in the case of illness or injury. To help you make an informed choice, Sunrun makes available a Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (SBCs), which summarize important information about our health coverage in a standard format, to help you compare across options. The SBCs also include a Glossary of Health Coverage and Medical Terms to help you better understand healthcare terms used in the SBCs. You can obtain a copy of the SBCs at no cost to you by contacting [email protected].

Important NoticesPlease note: This guide is intended to provide you with highlights of our benefits program. It is not intended to address all details. Actual benefit coverage is specified in the Plan Documents. In the event of any differences between this guide and the Plan Documents, the Plan Documents will govern.
