NewPrinectImageControl3–getscolorsright“Ourportfolioofproductsrangesfrompremiumspiritstohigh-qualityfineconfectionery.Brandownerscannowgivetheirpackagingevenmorecolorsandfoils,aswellasmatt,glossandpearlescenteffects,withspotandsolidfinishes,”confirmsDavidRae,PrintChampionatMPSEastKilbride.Inthesebrand-conscioussegments,thequalityisextremelyimportantandMPSthereforeorderedthePrinectImageControl3systemalongwiththenewmachine.“WetestedImageControl3extensivelyandwerealsoabletoensurethatourrequirementswerealsotakenintoconsideration,”explainedRae.“Mostofourjobsareproducedwithmetalizedcardboard.ImageControl3givesustheopportunitytomeasureandcontroltheopaquewhiteusingacompletelynormalprintcontrolstripforthefirsttime.Onthebasisofourfeedback,Heidelbergmadethisfunctionevenmorereliable.Thecolorvaluesrequiredarenowmucheasiertosaveandcallup,andtheentiresystemismoreuser-friendly.”

Thisisofevengreatervalueascurrentlymorethan600

colorsaresavedinthearchiveatMPS–fromcolorsforcardboardwithametalizedcoatingtouncoatedandcoatedpapers.90percentofthecolorsarespotcolorsandareadaptedinlinewitheachindividualcustomer.“Overall,ImageControl3hasensuredhigherqualityandmoreuniformitywithinourprocessaswecannowmeasureandcontrolcolorsonallsubstrates–especiallymetalizedsubstrates,”summarizesRae.“Sincetheendoflastyear,ourImageControl3hasbeenconnectedtothenewHeidelbergcentralcolordatabase.ThismeansthatwehaveafullbackupforallthecolorsandwecanalsouseconversionsoftwaretoimportcolordatainCxFformatthatisthenimmediate-lyavailableforuseinthesystem.”MPSrequestedthisfunctiontoallowthemtoproduceoneandthesamecolorconsistentlyatallsites.

HeidelberghasbeensupplyingthethirdgenerationofthePrinectImageControlfullsheetcolormeasurementsystemsincetheendoflastyear.Itscanswithspectro-photometricmeasuringheadsandaresolutionof200dpi.Inadditiontotruecolorimagecontrol,the“OfflineInspection”optionmeansthattheentireprintedsheetcanbecheckedforprintingdefectsandthereforeensuresthatthepackagingisfault-free.

MPSalsoachieveszerodefectproductionthankstothePrinectInspectionControl2in-lineinspectionsystem,whichimplementsmaximumproductivityandqualityassuranceintodailyproduction.

InMaythisyearHeidelbergandMKMasterworklaunchedthenewfoldergluermodel,theDianaEasy,simultaneouslyatChinaPrintinBeijingandatadedicatedpackagingeventinWiesloch,Germany.OnJune1st,morethan40customerswereabletovisittheMKMasterworkfactoryatanopenhouseeventheldinNovéMesto,Slovakiaandseewhereandhowthenewmachineismanufactured.

POLAR invests in new training centerPOLAR’snewtrainingcenterwasrecentlytakenintooperation.Itaccommodatesupto24traineeswhoreceiveinstructionintwodifferenttrades.TrainingyoungpeoplehasalwaysbeenaveryimportantareaoffocusforPOLAR.Forthisreasonthecompanyisstilltraininghighly-qualifiedyoungtalentbeyonditsownrequirements.

AtraineeshipatPOLARisnotonlyheldinveryhighregardwithinthebordersoftheMain-Taunusdistrict.POLARofferstraineeshipsinbothcommercialandindustrialprofessions.Asamechanicalengineeringcompany,itplacesgreatemphasisontraininginindustrialprofessions.Forthisreasontheindustrialtraineeshavetheirownworkshop,wheretwoinstructorsfocusontheprofessionalqualificationoftheyoungtrainees.Toensurethatthesehighstandardsarealsomaintainedinthefuture,POLARhasnowinvestedinanewtrainingcenter.
