The Session of Hebron Presbyterian Church held its stated monthly meeting on Thursday, June 22. Minutes of the meeting were approved at the July 27 Session meeting and are printed here:

Present: Elders Mike Fallin, Scott Mar tin, Mar-tha Sieck, David Obenschain, Lori Malcolm, Mike Ruleman, Hannah Bush, Allen Martin, Moderator Rev. Frank Wyche, and Clerk of Session Robin Moy-er. Excused: Elders Anita Tuttle, Robert Christian, Nancy K. Cook, and Tracy Mayer.

A quorum being present, the Moderator opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. with prayer.

Clerk’s Report: Mike Fallin moved to approve minutes from Stated Session meeting on May 25, 2017. Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report: A handout was provided by Treasurer Michael Ruleman with a detailed Report of Fund Balances as of June 22, 2017. The general fund continues in the red at (-$42,214.63). The total in our checking and savings stands at $146,769.19.

Committee Reports Cemetery (Anita Tuttle): Chairman Larry Mayer

reported two dead trees in the cemetery need to be removed. He received two quotes for removing all branches, logs, etc., and cutting the stumps as low as possible. Wagner Tree Service quoted $2,600 for the large beech tree and $600 for other smaller tree. Wil-liams Brothers quoted $1,849 for the same work and both trees. Without any objections from Session or committee members, he will proceed with Williams Brothers doing the work. The work will be done this summer, possibly in July. The dead tree is in the cem-etery across the road to the right of the entrance.

Christian Ed (Scott Martin, Mike Ruleman): Com-mittee did not meet. Eighty-three Action Bibles have been given out. Money budgeted for VBS is being used for the purchase of the Action Bibles. Scholar-ship Sunday will in July on the date that the most of our scholarship recipients will be able to be present, possibly July 23.

Commitment/Witness (Mike Fallin, Martha Sieck): Pentecost Offering was $150. $90 was given to the PC(USA) and $60 was given to the Central Office on Youth. $1,355 was raised for the fight against cancer by the Relay for Life luncheon on May 21.

Congregational Ministries (Lori Malcolm, Martha Sieck): Contacts and visits are ongoing.

Fellowship/Service (Nancy K. Cook, Lori Malcolm, Scott Martin, Tracy Mayer, Anita Tuttle): Everything is on track for the summer picnic July 23. The meal will follow the worship service. The church will pro-vide hot dogs and hamburgers. Duane Dean will be the grillmaster, and will cook the burgers and dogs on

the church charcoal grill. Tracy Mayer is looking for someone to make homemade ice cream, and asks the congregation for side dishes and desserts. Volunteers to help with the cleanup would be appreciated.

Personnel (Mike Fallin, David Obenschain): No re-port.

Property (Hannah Bush, Robert Christian, Allen Mar-tin, Anita Tuttle): Committee is looking into acquiring a new swing set.

Stewardship/Finance (Hannah Bush, Allen Martin, Mike Ruleman): No report.

Worship (Nancy K. Cook, David Obenschain, Tracy Mayer): Pastor Frank has informed Hannah Bush of the need to find pulpit supply for Sunday, August 27, 2017, and Sunday, January 7, 2018, when he will be on vaca-tion for family matters. This will mean moving previ-ously approved Installation of Officers from Jan. 7 to Jan. 14, and previously approved Communion from Jan. 14 to Jan. 21. Mike Ruleman made a motion to move Installation of Officers and Communion to dates as mentioned herein. Motion passed.

Pastor’s Report: Pastor has been out of the office since having had a tooth surgically removed Wednes-day, June 21, so the July newsletter won’t be available for pickup until Sunday, July 2. Pastor conducted a fu-neral last Saturday at Henry Funeral Home with inter-ment afterward in Hebron Cemetery upon a request from Henry’s. Friday morning Bible Study on the Serv-ant songs of Isaiah continues during summer as long as participants wish it to. Pastor has been researching and studying sexual misconduct and child protection poli-cies because PCUSA and Shenandoah Presbytery re-quire all churches to have them; when he finishes, he will bring proposals to Session for consideration.

The next Stated Meeting will be July 27 at 7:00 p.m. The blessings and prayer concerns of the congrega-

tion, friends, and relatives were shared by Session for corporate and individual prayer. The meeting was ad-journed with prayer by the moderator at 7:53 p.m.
