Have your say on the review of trade measurement requirements Date published: 5 June 2015 The National Measurement Institute (NMI) is reviewing the National Instrument Test Procedures (NITPs), and would like your feedback on current procedures and find out how your business may be affected by the proposed changes. What are the NITPs? When the accuracy of your trade measurement instruments is checked by a technician licensed by NMI (known as a servicing licensee), they are required to follow the process as set out in the NITPs. The accuracy of trade measurement instruments is checked across many industry sectors. Trade measurement instruments can include: retail scales grain protein measuring instruments petrol dispensers. Why are the NITPs being reviewed? The NITPs are being reviewed to try and reduce regulation burden and costs. NMI wants to find out if greater flexibility is possible for testing the accuracy of a trade measuring instrument. NMI would like your input on questions such as: What are the potential risks in removing some mandatory requirements? How much does it cost your business to have your measuring instruments checked? What indirect costs do you incur when a servicing licensee follows the NITPs? This could include shutdown time, delay costs, etc. Read the consultation paper for more information and see the questions NMI would like your thoughts on! Have your say

What are the NITPs?
