Here at Frost Valley YMCA, a summer spent in nature—surrounded by new friends, positive role models, and engaging activities—is so much more than a few weeks away from home. Nestled in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, summer camp at Frost Valley is a priceless experience for your child to build the values that will guide them through life. This “screen-free zone” provides endless opportunities for campers to explore the natural world around them. Whether they’re hiking our trails, horseback riding at East Valley Ranch, cultivating produce at the Farm, or exploring the Maine Coast, Frost Valley campers are given endless opportunities for growth and discovery.
Better than sending a friend request, friendships are formed while paddling a canoe together. Conversations take place around a campfire, as opposed to via text messages. And rather than sharing photos online, memories are formed as images imprinted in young minds for life.Summer 2014 can be your child’s time to shine. Each day is filled with engaging pastimes, including arts and crafts, hiking, sports, archery, climbing, boating, and swimming. Frost Valley summer camp is rich with time-honored camp favorites, such as singing and storytelling around the campfire, cheers at every meal, and evenings capped off with a dazzling display of stars. The experience of a summer at Frost Valley is filled with a whole new type of wireless entertainment.
We invite you and your children to have the summer of a lifetime that will build a lifetime of values. Join us for Frost Valley Summer Camp 2014.
BUILD A LIFETIMEOF VALUES.
3My daughter came home taller, confident, with many new friends, and so happy, with lots of new, exciting experiences. She will remember this for life.

RESIDENT SLEEPAWAY CAMPImagine you are here: It’s a hot summer day. You hike up the trail towards the cool spray of High Falls. Later, there’s a wicked game of gaga ball on Big Tree Field. Or, you can choose to climb up the 40-foot Y Tower, soar down the zip-line, join the choreographed dance routine or go for a horseback ride on the trails. Then you can plunge into the refreshing waters of Lake Cole! Day turns to night. It’s a hot summer night. There’s a crackling campfire. You’re making S’mores and story-telling beneath a blanket of stars. New friends feel as comfortable as family. Counselors lead the sing-along. Cicadas provide the background music. The summer seems perfectly endless. The night does, too. But soon dawn breaks. There’s the flag-raising ceremony, pancakes in the dining hall, the sleepy, smiling faces of all your friends, and you get to do it all over again!
Come join us: Frost Valley YMCA— Where Summer Happens.

OUR MISSIONTo put Judeo/Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit,
mind and body for all. In pursuit of this mission, we strive to embody the following core values:
Caring, Community, Diversity, Honesty, Inclusiveness, Respect, Responsibility, and Stewardship.
FROST VALLEY STAFF Frost Valley YMCA is dedicated to hiring only the very best counselors to care for our campers.
Many have been with us since they were young, journeying from camper-to-CIT-to-counselor.
They know our history, culture, traditions, and terrain as if they have Frost Valley running
through their DNA. Others come to us from countries overseas. Counselors undergo extensive
training in our policies and procedures, which stress health and safety. And all Frost Valley
YMCA staff members are subject to in-depth background and criminal history checks.
CARING: We go beyond ourselves to do what we can for all.

DIVERSITY: We promote a culture of respect and value diversity.
HORSEBACK RIDING LESSONS (GRADES 2-9) AVAILABLE ALL SESSIONS
Designed for beginning riders of all ages, campers join our qualified instructors for
four one-hour riding blocks, focusing on basic Western horsemanship skills in the
arena and out on the trail. Riders work on proper mounting, dismounting, starting,
stopping and steering the horse. Not available for campers participating in Farm
Camp, Adventure Village, Adventure Trips, or East Valley Ranch.
ALL CAMP EVENTS FOURTH OF JULY (1ST SESSION)
The Fourth of July begins, like all other days, with a flag raising ceremony. But for our Independence Day celebration, the entire camp joins together around the flagpole to sing a rousing happy birthday to America. During the day, we host a carnival to celebrate our great country. Later, we invite our international summer staff to participate in a small world fair where all cultures share their history and traditions. The day culminates with an evening of fireworks over Lake Cole.
OLYMPIX (2ND SESSION)
Every summer, the Olympix spirit sweeps through camp when Frost Valley YMCA hosts our annual Olympix championship. Competing countries vary from year to year and are represented by groups of campers. The opening ceremony commences the night before with dances, skits, and songs representing the cultural traditions of each country. Team unity and pride are on full display, but it’s the spirit of Frost Valley that rises strong and pure. Let the games begin!
BATTLE OF THE THEMES (3RD SESSION)
Hasn’t every kid wanted to be a superhero, a wizard, or a princess? Enter battle of the themes day. Campers bring fantasy to life dressing up in costumes based on a theme of their choice. Themes vary from wizards and superheroes to pirates and princesses. Campers compete in games based on the themes chosen. Imagination becomes reality!
HIRDSTOCK (4TH SESSION)
Hirdstock, a camp-wide music festival inspired by the original Woodstock, takes place during the fourth session. Campers participate in arts and crafts, games, an air guitar competition, and other activities on Hirdstock Field. But, the main attraction is always the music. Performances by campers, counselors, and other professional bands draw the positive vibes of all present.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSWHO SUPERVISES MY CHILD?
Many of our summer staff members were campers at one
time. They became CITs and then counselors, and they
know Frost Valley YMCA better than anyone. Others are
internationals. Many return year after year, giving Frost
Valley a family feel and a real sense of culture and tradition.
Counselors undergo extensive training in our policies and
procedures which stress health and safety first. In-depth
background and criminal history checks are performed on all
of our employees. Our staff to camper ratio is 1 to 4.
WHAT IF MY CHILD GETS SICK?
Guenther Family Wellness Center, located on camp, is staffed
by registered nurses and EMTs 24 hours a day. If your child
gets sick, you will be notified immediately while your child
receives the care they need. To learn more, email: nurse@
frostvalley.org
WHAT WILL MY CHILD EAT?
Three hot, wholesome meals are served daily. Our dining
hall offers a vast array of options from the typical kid fare
to organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options. Care
is taken to meet the dietary needs of all of our campers.
Fresh fruit is available for snacking all day long. Chartwells
Educational Dining Service creates the menus, ensuring that
each meal is nutritionally balanced. Candy and soda are not
served or sold in the Camp Store.
WHERE WILL MY CHILD SLEEP?
Camp accommodations vary from single cabins, yurts,
and tents to lodges which house two-to-four male or
female cabin groups. These arrangements all promise the
opportunity for friendships to flourish naturally and with
ease. We honor one mutual bunk request per camper.
IS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE?

Sending our daughter to camp for 2 weeks is the best thing we could do for her. I think the chance for these kids to disconnect from TV, Internet, and their phones and engage their brains in other activities is priceless these days. She seems so happy and relaxed and told us stories from all her camp experiences the whole ride home and into the night.
