▲ Smartie Town Children’s Party – (Friday 15th July 2011)We had sweets, chips, biscuits, cold drinks, muffins, scones, raisons and peanuts. Juanita Phillips

made koeksisters and brought oranges. They had so much fun!!! We played sports and games with

them. Halli was there as well and they danced with him. He gave each child a big hug. We catered for +/- 120 children. Thank you to all the volunteers for your help we really appreciate you!!! Marichje de Necker, Elrie Coetzee, Janneke de Necker, Jandre de Necker, Jay Stevens, Pieter

Slabbert and Androni Naude. Thank you Juanita and all the other volunteers!!!The treats were part of the food donation we received for OK Foods last term.

Jameen – young lady from Kuilsrivier – Baby clothes.Johnny – Food.Chester – Clothes.

▲ Alice from Nonzamo – We helped her with clothes and shoes for her kids.Family in the Strand – We helped the family with toiletries, cleaning material, groceries and frozen meals. We want to assist them with the normal household tasks and assist them with menu planning and cooking ideas.Feedback from the daughter – “You have no idea how much this means to us!!! I have given up hope and joy. Thank you a thousand times thank you!!!”

2 Families in Grassy Park – Their houses burnt down and we helped them with clothes, shoes, linen, towels, a duvet and a pillow.Mfundisweni Creche – Toys.Bongi from Nonzamo – Baby changing mattress, baby clothes, baby blanket.

▲ Smartie Town – We emptied our banks and gave Smartie Town 13 black bags of clothes, all the shoes, toiletries, cleaning material, toys and educational toys. Juanita Philips will hand these out as she sees need in the community. We helped her with a few things also as she foster cares children on a regular basis. We want her to have enough clothes, shoes and toiletries for the foster children. The educational toys will be used when she is in Smartie Town doing educational programs with the children.More donations for Smartie Town – Clothes, games, bags, books, hair accessories for the girls, cold drink bottles and a new school bag.

Juanita Philips from Child Welfare Macassar wanted to treat the women in Smartie Town. Juanita and her helpers made a beautiful warm lunch with cold drinks and koeksisters.

Maritha Delo showed them how they can earn extra money by making an ashtray using bottle tops and a tuna tin.

Melissa Lindoor-Moses entertained all of us with her beautiful voice!!! We had so much fun withMelissa. You were excellent Melissa!!! Thank you!!!

Shireen van Staden, manager from Child Welfare, encouraged the ladies. She explained the procedures of Child Welfare and how the moms need to work with them.

Rita Cottle also from Child Welfare encouraged the moms.

We want to thank Juanita and all her wonderful ladies they are always ready to help. Melissa for entertaining us with her voice – you were fantastic!!!

Everybody had so much fun thank you for your blessings!!!Maritha for her demonstration and

Shireen and Rita for encouraging the ladies.

Halli Trust donated:50 x tubes of toothpaste

50 x bars of soap8 x facecloths

Chips, rusks, toiletries and clothesWe used these items in the goodie bags for the ladies. We also used some of these items as lucky

draw goodie bags.

This was a very special morning!!! Fantastic to see everyone working together with one purpose in mind!!! May this be the beginning of lots to come for Smartie Town!!!

▲ Gloria, Bongi and Veronica – Thank you so very much for your hard work!!! They volunteered on

Tuesday 20th of September packing away donations in the Halli Trust Banks. They worked the whole day - marking and packing away clothes, shoes, toys and linen. Thank you very much ladies

you are fantastic!!!

▲ Juanita Philips and Gloria Hungana – These are 2 very special ladies very close and dear to our hearts!!!!!! Thank you again for volunteering in the Clothing Bank sorting out all the donations.

FEEDBACK from the previous Newsletters:

We have followed up on all the individuals and families we have helped so far. Some people only need our help once others need more assistance. As we continue with assisting and

assessing the individuals and families it is important that the people work with us. They must be honest and willing to improve their circumstances.

▲ Tinus (Car guard at Somerset Mall). His wife is pregnant with their 2nd child. We’ve helped them with clothes, shoes, soft toy’s and baby things. We will keep Tinus under our wings but for now they

are doing ok.Veronica from Nonzamo – We are helping her son and grandson. We gave them 10 packets of

vegetable seeds that they can plant when it is warmer. We also helped them with food, clothes and shoes. We will encourage him to find work and plan his life.

▲Belinda from Broadlands Park – We followed up on her and she’s doing much better. We gave her clothes and toiletries. We will follow up on her again but it looks like she’s good for now.

Alison and Mias from Macassar – We helped them again with toiletries and clothes but they are doing much better now. Alison is almost back at work after maternity leave and Mias has a temporary

work.

May 2011 August 2011▲ Tsengwa family from Poliele – We went to help the family in May 2011. They are all HIV

positive and the second oldest sister was very sick. But when we follow up on them in August 2011 we saw a different family. This family is really working together and together they want to move

forward!!! What a blessing it was to see that they are doing better. The older sister applied for grant from the government for all the children. She is also on the out-look for work. The second sister will also be looking for work as soon as she’s finished with her treatment. This family touched my heart

because they made such an effort to improve there circumstances. We helped them with food, cleaning materials, linen, toiletries, shoes and clothes. They are definitely still under our wings to help

in future till things improve.

We also want to thank Veronica a friend of the Halli Trust. She is a hospice volunteer and she has really helped this family a lot.

▲ Anele and his family from Nonzamo – We bought him a matric top. We also helped them with clothes, shoes, food and 10 packets of vegetable seeds. He has an elderly mother and she struggles

to cope financially. She still looks after babies for extra income. We will help this family as there is no other ways of income. But they do their best with what they have. We want to help Anele with his

studies next year. When we told him about the matric top we bought he could not even speak he was so emotional and greatful. He is a hard worker and very artistic we will see what we can do to

improve the circumstances of this family.

▲ Matric Farewell clothes for AneleWe bought him new trausers, a shirt, socks, shoes, underwear and a pullover. He’ll be looking very

smart when he attends his matric farewell.

▲ Lindelwa Silenga from Nonzamo – We helped her with clothes, shoes, toiletries and a few handbags. Lindelwa is still under our wings as we want to make sure her health and physical well

being is taken care of.

▲ Sidwele and Gloria Hungana’s home – We finished the last work on their home. The leaks in the roof, the cornicing and the curtains.

PLANS for the FUTURE:

. We have a few Halli visits booked with PATCH.

We plan on hosting a Christmas Party for Smartie Town kids on the 11th of November.Please contact us if you want to donate anything towards the party. We need vienna sausages,

hotdog rolls, bars of soap and a face cloth for 150 kids.

What can YOU do:

Ask us for a donation list. This will help you on what to donate.LET US KNOW IF YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE IN NEED!!!

▲Hanani de Necker – One of Halli’s biggest fans!!! She was so glad to see him. She always makes him

cards. Halli says: Friends forever Hanani!!!

I want to thank Juanita and Gloria with everything in me!!! They did not just become my friends but they share my heart and need to help others. What a privilege to have friends

like them.To all my friends thank you for your support the last year!!! My life would be empty without

you!!!

There is always Hope – Never give it up or lose it – Fight for it!!!

▲ Tinus (Car guard at Somerset Mall). His wife is pregnant with their 2nd child. We’ve helped them with clothes, shoes, soft toy’s and baby things. We will keep Tinus under our wings but for now they

are doing ok.Veronica from Nonzamo – We are helping her son and grandson. We gave them 10 packets of

vegetable seeds that they can plant when it is warmer. We also helped them with food, clothes and shoes. We will encourage him to find work and plan his life.

▲Belinda from Broadlands Park – We followed up on her and she’s doing much better. We gave her clothes and toiletries. We will follow up on her again but it looks like she’s good for now.

Alison and Mias from Macassar – We helped them again with toiletries and clothes but they are doing much better now. Alison is almost back at work after maternity leave and Mias has a temporary

work.

May 2011 August 2011▲ Tsengwa family from Poliele – We went to help the family in May 2011. They are all HIV

positive and the second oldest sister was very sick. But when we follow up on them in August 2011 we saw a different family. This family is really working together and together they want to move

forward!!! What a blessing it was to see that they are doing better. The older sister applied for grant from the government for all the children. She is also on the out-look for work. The second sister will also be looking for work as soon as she’s finished with her treatment. This family touched my heart

because they made such an effort to improve there circumstances. We helped them with food, cleaning materials, linen, toiletries, shoes and clothes. They are definitely still under our wings to help

in future till things improve.

We also want to thank Veronica a friend of the Halli Trust. She is a hospice volunteer and she has really helped this family a lot.

▲ Anele and his family from Nonzamo – We bought him a matric top. We also helped them with clothes, shoes, food and 10 packets of vegetable seeds. He has an elderly mother and she struggles

to cope financially. She still looks after babies for extra income. We will help this family as there is no other ways of income. But they do their best with what they have. We want to help Anele with his

studies next year. When we told him about the matric top we bought he could not even speak he was so emotional and greatful. He is a hard worker and very artistic we will see what we can do to

improve the circumstances of this family.

▲ Matric Farewell clothes for AneleWe bought him new trausers, a shirt, socks, shoes, underwear and a pullover. He’ll be looking very

smart when he attends his matric farewell.

▲ Lindelwa Silenga from Nonzamo – We helped her with clothes, shoes, toiletries and a few handbags. Lindelwa is still under our wings as we want to make sure her health and physical well

being is taken care of.

▲ Sidwele and Gloria Hungana’s home – We finished the last work on their home. The leaks in the roof, the cornicing and the curtains.

PLANS for the FUTURE:

. We have a few Halli visits booked with PATCH.

We plan on hosting a Christmas Party for Smartie Town kids on the 11th of November.Please contact us if you want to donate anything towards the party. We need vienna sausages,

hotdog rolls, bars of soap and a face cloth for 150 kids.

I want to thank Juanita and Gloria with everything in me!!! They did not just become my friends but they share my heart and need to help others. What a privilege to have friends

like them.To all my friends thank you for your support the last year!!! My life would be empty without
