•Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein.

•It most commonly occurs in the deep veins of the lower leg and can spread to the deep veins in the thigh. 

•Rarely, it can occur in other deep veins, such as those in the arms

Many blood clots that occur in DVT cases are small and cause no hassles.
