Gunter Park

Introduction

• The current Gunter park lacks recreational systems. Our seventh grade class was invited to join in an authentic learning experience. From there, our class conducted a survey, asking exactly what Gunter residents would like to see added to the Gunter park. Obviously the park does not provide these entertainment sources.

Outdoor Basketball Court

• Some outdoor basketball court types include:• Asphalt• Concrete• Silicon

Concrete Basketball Court

• Concrete basketball courts cast about $1500.Advantages:• Ball bounces well• Similar to wood basketball courtDisadvantages• Joint pain

Silicon Basketball Court

• Silicon outdoor basketball courts cost about $100,000.

Advantages• Earth Friendly and free of harmful materials• durable, fadeless and has vivid colorDisadvantages• Costly• High mantinance

Asphalt Basketball Court

• Asphalt basketball courts cost on average $7,500.

Advantages• Cheap• EasyDisadvantages• VERY hot in the summer from black flooring• Not durable

Swimming Pools

• Another thing the Gunter park research revealed is the fact that Gunter residents would enjoy seeing a pool in the park.

Concrete Swimming Pool

• A concrete swimming pool would cost about $25,000.Advantages• Durable• Cheaper than other poolsDisadvantages• More maintenance: Concrete pools also need to be

frequently swept• Longer install time: Concrete pools take longer to

install....usually 2-4 months

Fiberglass Swimming Pools

• Fiberglass swimming pools with the dimensions I have listed would cost around $15,000

Advantages• Low maintenance: The gel coat surface of the fiberglass

pool shell is nonporous• Little or No lifetime costDisadvantages• No wider than 16': Fiberglass Pools are shipped via the

road. Shipping restrictions limit the width of the fiberglass pool shell to 16‘

• Higher initial cost

Vinyl Liner Swimming Pools

• Vinyl Liner pools cost around $20,000

Advantages• Very low cost• Smooth to the touchDisadvantages• Fragile• High lifetime cost
