PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE Congratulations to all the students at Gundagai Public School who took part in the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year. The challenge encourages students to develop habits of reading that will serve them throughout their lives, and to engage with books from a wide range of genres and authors. This year 73 students from our school completed the challenge. Special congratulations must go to Claire Lindley, Dana Rolfe-Lanyon, Gilbert Crane, Eva Wheaton, Kaylee Rose, Dane Smart, Mia Mitchell and Grace McGregor who received a Gold Certificate this year for completing 4 years of the challenge. Well done on such a great achievement.

PREMIERS SPORTING CHALLENGE Zac Scott is the well deserving recipient of the Premier’s Sporting Medal for 2020. This medal is intended to acknowledge one student for their outstanding:

Commitment to fair play

Achievement in their sporting discipline

Overall contribution to their school’s weekly sporting program.

Zac has continued to impress with his attitude, enthusiasm and commitment to a wide variety of sporting fields. Congratulations Zac on this accomplishment. Congratulations is also extended to the many students of who successfully completed the NSW Premier's Sporting Challenge this year. The challenge encourages all students in public schools to be more active, more often by increasing their participation in sport and

physical activity. Award levels for the 10 week challenge reflect a daily activity time with all types of moderate to vigorous physical activities counting toward an award. Gundagai Public is very committed to giving a broad range of sporting opportunities and this is reflected in the results reflected in this year’s challenge.

LUNCHTIME CRICKET COMPETITION Mr O’Hehir’s lunchtime cricket competition has been running over the last 2 weeks, which saw some outstanding performances worthy of a place in the Australian Cricket Team. The Stage 2 Grand Final saw the Thunder taking on the Hurricanes in an absolute thriller. Clayton Rainbow led the way for the Thunder with 17 runs. Despite a great fightback from Connor West (18 runs), the Hurricanes fell 2 runs short of the Thunder’s total. Congratulations to the Thunder, winning 36 runs to 34. The Stage 3 Grand final was a high scoring game between the Stars and the Renegades. Stars batted first, with James Smart top scoring with a quick-fire 18 runs. Renegades batted very well in reply, but fell short in a gallant effort. Top scorers were Ed Smart with 15, and Cooper Smith with 14. Congratulations to the Stars, winning 67 runs to 45.
