Festa de São João

São João um dos santos populares mais festejado em toda a Europa. É na cidade do Porto que as celebrações em seu louvor atingem o mais alto grau de espontaneidade. S. João tripeiro é entendido como uma grande manifestação de massas, eminentemente festiva, de puro cariz popular e dura uma noite inteira, com a cidade na rua em alegre e fraterno convívio colectivo.Uma festa nitidamente pagã, com o fundamento em “sortes” amorosas, encantamentos e divinações que se devem relacionar com o casamento, saúde e a felicidade mas também está relacionada com os antigos cultos pagãos do Sol e do fogo, às virtudes das ervas bentas, ao orvalho, às fogueiras, à água dos rios e mares.Conta a tradição que quem saltar a fogueira na noite de São João, em número ímpar e no mínimo três vezes, fica por todo o ano protegido de todos os males. Para certos azares, são benéficos os banhos tomados nas praias do rio Douro ou nos areais da Foz, na manhã do dia de S. João, mas antes do sol nascer. Horário:De 23 para 24 de Junho.

Party of São João

São João one of the popular saints more cel-ebrated in the whole Europe. It is in the city of Porto that the celebrations in his praise reach the highest spontaneity degree. S. João tripeiro is understood as a great mani-festation of masses, eminently festival, of pure popular and hard nature a whole night, with the city in the street in cheerful and fraternal convivi-ality collective. A party sharply pagan, with the foundation in loving "lucks", enchantments and divinations that she should relate with the marriage, health and the happiness but it is also related with the old pagan cults of the Sun and of the fire, to the virtues of the sacred herbs, to the dew, to the bonfires, to the water of the rivers and seas. Tells the tradition that who the bonfire it jumps in São João night, in odd number and at least three times, it is for the whole protected year of all of the evils. For certain bad luck, they are beneficial the baths taken at the beaches of the river Gild or in the sand dunes of the Mouth, in the morning of S. João's day, but before the sun to be born.

Oitagésima primeira edição da feira do livro na Avenida dos Aliados. Desde dia 26 de Maio até dia 12 de Junho. A música também vai estar presente na feira com uma noite de fados, a 10 de junho, e com as atuações da Banda Intersound e dos instrumentistas Carlos Semedo, Henrique Alonso e Fernando Oliveira. Na Praça Humberto Delgado, serão exibidos três filmes: "Tomai lá do O'Neill", de Fernando Lopes, "José Cardoso Pires - Diário de Bordo", de Manuel Mozos, e "O Manuscrito Perdido", de José Barahona.O "Bibliocarro" da Biblioteca Municipal Almeida Garrett, com livros e CD para crianças, vai estacionar todos os dias

Since 2001 that he/she gives relief to the Con-temporaneity in the marionettes theater. Off the Wall / Out of the Wall

The century XX was marked by the crossing of the plastic arts with other arts as the picture, the sound, the movies and the arts of the movement. "Off the Wall", curated for Chrissie Iles, is focused in the relationship with these last ones, the "arts of the time", in other words, all of the arts performativas and also the ones that involve the image in movement.
