FIRST GRADE NEWS

October was a busy month! We learned about fire safety and preven-

tion, Columbus and The Age of Exploration, standing up against bully-

ing, and all about apples, trees, and bees on our field trip to Erie Or-

chard & Cider Mill. The end of October and November will be just as

busy as we learn about the weather and how it changes with the sea-

sons, continue learning about addition and subtraction strategies to use

in math, perfect our independent work in Daily 5 while we meet in

guided reading groups, continue to learn about nouns and action verbs,

and how to write narratives that include interesting details. All of this

takes hard work and determination and the teachers are all so proud of

their hard work!

4th grade students participated in the DTE Think Energy

program this month. They learned about conserving our nat-

ural resources during the presentation. Students received a

Take Action kit with energy efficient products to install at

home.

to practice addition and subtraction facts at home.

We look forward to seeing everyone in November at

conferences.

DECA is hosting a clothing give away again this year

This event is meant to treat our amazing teachers to some delicious food on conference nights when

a much-appreciated event by the staff. Please contact Jessica Stahl ([email protected]) if you are

able to help with donations of food (sides, desserts, beverages or paper products) and/or set up and
