Policies and Procedures

Attendance:

Regular attendance is essential to participating in and successfully completing this course. Make-ups or extensions are not available for Research Project assignments, exams, tests, or in-class assignments without a verifiable, unavoidable medical or family reason. Requests for make-ups or extensions must be accompanied by documentation including a telephone number and a time when a call can be made to verify the information presented. Assignments:

Research Project assignments must be handed in on the due date. A 3 mark late penalty will be assessed against late assignments except in the case of a verifiable, unavoidable family or medical reason. No e-mailed assignments will be accepted. Assignments must be handed in on time, on paper, in class before the end of the regular classroom time. No assignments whatsoever can be accepted once the marked assignments are returned to the class.

All in-class assignments are due by the end of class.

All readings must be done before class. You will use readings to complete in-class assignments and on the quizzes. Plagiarism:

Plagiarism means passing off someone else's work—in whole or in part—as your own.

Plagiarism is a very serious academic offence: it will result in a mark of "0" for the assignment in question. In addition, any instances of plagiarism will be reported immediately to the Chair of your department and to the promotion committee at the end of term. Further sanctions may follow. Please consult your academic handbook for details.
