Cloud is an Ecosystem Value Proposition
• Clouds live in a rich software stack, with key elements “below” and “above”• Those other stack elements originate with• Cloud platform providers / OSVs• Independent software vendors (ISVs)• Cloud Service Providers (CSPs)• Enterprise end-users own IT departments• Other open source projects
It takes an ecosystem!

IntroducingOpenLab
OpenLab – An Ecosystem Development Community
• A program to enable the testing, reporting, and development of tools and applications for cloud environments• Designed to support both commercial and open source projects• Provides • A collaborative focus to address integrations on OpenStack and beyond• A ready-to-use and easy-to-replicate platform for testing the usability,
reliability, and resiliency of hybrid and multi-cloud tooling• SDKs• Cloud platforms
• Reporting of test results for the benefit of cloud integrators and users
10
Why OpenLab Exists
• For users, a cloud must be an ecosystem solution• OpenStack does not currently address support beyond its native APIs• A large ecosystem already exists that extends the value of OpenStack
beyond those APIs• A joint collaborative approach will deliver the most benefit across the
broad open source ecosystem• Consumers of clouds need reliable tools and applications for direct
consumption or reference
11
How OpenLab Works
• Governance• OpenLab is still forming• Governance led by seeding members – OpenStack Foundation, Huawei, and Intel• Loosely structured, but expected to evolve as needed• Adheres to the Four Opens
• Code and Companies (so far)
